UPDATE- 12/03/17: STRETCH GOAL #1 ANNOUNCED!
One name stands above all others as the most enduring and horrifying icon of fright- DRACULA! Now, cult horror comic writer Mike Wolfer brings you the most shocking chapter in the Dracula mythos, illustrated by the incredible Roy Allan Martinez, and published by American Mythology Productions.
THE TERRIFYING TALE
THE ETERNAL THIRST OF DRACULA is unlike any vampire tale you've seen before. A direct sequel to the original Bram Stoker novel, this frightfest brings the King of the Undead into our world, the real world, where "Dracula" is considered nothing more than a fictional character.
It's 1975, and Exemplar Pictures International is in the Philippines shooting their latest, low-budget, horror film, "Curse of the Vines of Death," written, directed, and starring drive-in staple Van Hauser. After receiving an investment offer from a mysterious financier, Hauser is flown to a remote island for a one-on-one meeting with the wealthy investor. But upon his arrival, Hauser finds a huge wall encircling the island's perimeter and terrors beyond imagining behind it, for this is the hidden sanctuary of the very-real Count Dracula!
THE ETERNAL THIRST OF DRACULA begins with a two-part tale, written by Mike Wolfer, illustrated by Roy Allan Martinez, colored by Enrica Eren Angiolini, and lettered by Natalie Jane. Published by American Mythology Productions, issue #1 goes on sale December 20, 2017, with #2 arriving in stores in February 2018.
If you're looking at those sample pages and thinking, "You know, this looks more like a Hammer film than Bram Stoker," then you're absolutely right. Our approach to the series is an interesting one- We're building upon the original novel in a way that's going to blow your mind, with a visual and thematic presentation that should immediately call to mind the sexy, gory, violent Hammer films that we all know and love. You know... The classics! ETERNAL THIRST OF DRACULA is for mature readers only, and contains violence, nudity, and gore, so be prepared!
THE CREEPY CREATORS
MIKE WOLFER, writer: Past comics credits include "Friday the 13th," "Night of the Living Dead," "The Land That Time Forgot," "Lady Death," "Daughters of the Dark Oracle," and many more. And ETERNAL THIRST OF DRACULA.
ROY ALLAN MARTINEZ, artist: Since Roy lives in the Philippines, there could be no better choice of artists to depict the characters and locations in ETERNAL THIRST OF DRACULA than Roy. He has lent his considerable (and just plain scary) talents to a number of comics, including DC Comics' "Wonder Woman," "Son of M" for Marvel Comics, and "Heroes: Godsend," published by Titan Comics. And surprise- also ETERNAL THIRST OF DRACULA, because we like saying the name.
ENRICA EREN ANGIOLINI, colorist: One of Italy's rising stars, Enrica's rich, color work can be found in "Warhammer 40,000 - Revelations" and "Warhammer 40,000 - Will of Iron" for Titan Comics, and "All New Michael Turner's Fathom" for Aspen Comics. And don't forget ETERNAL THIRST OF DRACULA. At this point, how could you?
NATALIE JANE, letterer: Hailing from Chicago, Natalie's all over the map when it comes to lettering, contributing to action/horror works like "The Land That Time Forgot" and "Daughters of the Dark Oracle," as well as kids' comics like "Casper the Friendly Ghost" and "Rocky & Bullwinkle." And, yeah, you guessed it- ETERNAL THIRST OF DRACULA.
If you've been a backer of a crowdfunding campaign run by an established comics publisher in the last year or two, you're probably well aware of the reason that publishers so frequently turn to Kickstarter: Comic sales are very poor right now for all publishers, and many comics companies now turn to crowdfunding to help to pay for the costs of the creators and printing. It's that simple. We know that ETERNAL THIRST OF DRACULA is a high-quality, top-notch tale of terror that could very well become a modern horror comics classic, so to make sure that we can continue producing more of what you want, we need to ask for your help, and in return, we're going to give you some incredibly groovy, super-exclusive collectibles that you won't find anywhere else!
The base reward in this campaign is an extra-special, Kickstarter-exclusive edition of ETERNAL THIRST OF DRACULA, seen at the top of the page. What makes this book unique is that it combines issues #1 and #2 (for a complete first chapter in the series) into one, 48-page volume that you won't find in stores. And better yet, it's got a retro "movie poster" cover that should send you flying back to the swingin' '70s, simply by gazing upon it! As an added bonus, each book is autographed by writer Mike Wolfer!
What else do we have for you? Well, who doesn't love a groovy trading card? And what's better than one groovy trading card? TWO groovy trading cards... And they're rare, promotional trading cards, at that! These two promo cards were previously only available to guests who visited the American Mythology booth at the 2017 Baltimore Comic Con, and were produced in a very limited supply of only 250 of each card. Rare? You BET they're rare!
Here's some fun and exciting items that you won't find anywhere but Kickstarter- Oracle Cards! Through an exclusive arrangement, Mike Wolfer brings these unique collectibles to American Mythology as a special treat for followers of his work. Look for the addition of these to your rewards beginning at the $45 level!
