“Alaska Filmmakers” (AKF) is a program for filmmakers, by filmmakers, about filmmakers. It is dedicated to highlighting the talented individuals working in the Alaska Film Industry. Our hosts sit down with local filmmakers and productions groups to talk about their inspirations, challenges and triumphs of being a storyteller, and how they are working together to help sustain Alaska’s film industry.
The first Series of interviews was made possible by a small group of local artists who generously volunteered their time and resources. Each member of the crew brought their own experiences and unique style to the program.
As we head into planning for Series 02 of AKF we recognize, like any other program, we must expand, and strive to improve on the previous series. When we first launched the series we began receiving messages from filmmakers all over Alaska interested in taking part in the program. Series 01 featured twelve episodes consisting of filmmakers based out of Anchorage and Eagle River. In Series 02 we want to take the show on the road and bring you more Alaskan stories from around the state. In total we plan to shoot 16 individual episodes featuring storytellers from not only Anchorage, but Fairbanks, Seward, Kenai, and Homer.
In order to accomplish this goal we hope to raise local funding to cover travel and equipment expenses and make sure that all who participate are compensated for their time and efforts. With your help, we can continue bringing your Alaskan stories to both entertain and educate.
-TRAVEL EXPENSES- These funds will help to pay for lodging, food, and fuel to get us around the state as we gather interviews.
-CREW COMPENSATION- The cast and crew who help make this series possible also work professionally in the local production market. These funds will help to compensate them for time spent on the road, and in the studio.
-EQUIPMENT RENTALS- When traveling we will need to have access to local resources that we are unable to acquire during travel days.

Over the last decade publishing professional content on the internet has become a great promotional tool for storytellers. With today’s technology anyone can instantly have their work seen by the entire world by simply uploading it to their personal page or one of the vast number of popular video sites. The goal of “Alaska Filmmakers” is to help unite and promote the Alaskan production community, as well as provide an educational tool for aspiring filmmakers. By putting our content directly on the internet we can provide a free and easy way for local filmmakers to connect with one another as well as other productions coming into the state.
