About
WONDER WIRES was created out of frustration.
The frustration of not having the tools/accessories I needed in my mobile life to keep my phone charged and transfer/store data when I needed to. Or when I did have the right tools, having to deal with carrying multiple devices and accessories when I traveled or left my home or office in order to get the job done.
I didn't want to have to bring a bag just to carry my accessories (Which usually ended up in a tangled mess). Why wasn't there something that was small enough to fit in your pocket or a key ring so it was always with you?
Those questions led to this:

How many times have you used one of the following lines before?
-"Why do I need to carry all of these cords and thumb drives every time I tavel, there's gotta be a simpler way"?
-"DANG! Do you have a charger I can borrow my phone is dead again"?
-"Do you have a USB thumb drive I can save my files to"?
-"I left my charger back at the house again, can we go back and get it"?
-"I wish I would have brought my car charger, so I could get some juice to my phone in between my meetings today"
-"I wish I had a spare charger my phone is dead again".
I know I've been in situations before where I've used these lines before, probably more than a few times.
Wonder Wires resolves a couple of issues when it comes to charging your cell phone, data transfer and file storage needs. Wonder Wires solve the problems of:
Not having a phone charger when and where you need it.
Having to carry around multiple wires and thumb drives.
One universal product that works across multiple brands of devices.
Carrying multiple products and devices with you.
So What exactly are Wonder Wires? Why does it exist? and How will we make it all happen?
What:
Wonder Wires are cables for phones that are a compact multi-functional product, that is compatible with phones that have a micro USB ( also known as 5 pin) connectors. This includes Android, Blackberry, and Window phones (HTC, LG, Nokia, Samsung, Huawei, Google phones, t-mobile phones, at&t phones, Motarola, Nexus, etc) even some smaller tablets, cameras and other devices like Bluetooth headsets.
First, they can be used for charging. You can plug them into your usb port on a computer or tablet, a usb wall connector, usb car connector, etc. With it's flexible cable it can be used almost anywhere.
Second, its a transfer wire. You can transmit pictures, data and documents from your phone to your computer and visa versa.
Third, it is a micro SD card reader. You can pull an micro SD card out of your camera, GOPRO or Contour video camera, phone, mp3 player, other device, etc and read it on Wonder Wires.

Fourth, If you keep a micro SD card in the Wonder Wire you can use it as a USB thumb / storage drive.

So, it is a an all in one device that is small and easy to carry around.

Why:
I like products that fill a need and offer simple solutions. Wonder Wires is the same idea, a product that is simple, it fills a need and is useful. The idea came to me because I like things that are clean and simple. I don't usually go for overdone. I like old cars and the BMW Isetta fits that mold. Not a lot of bells and whistles just one door in the front, simple engine not very luxurious inside, but it gets the job done. I also was inspired to start WONDER WIRES because I travel a lot for work and I hated not having the right cords or tools to do my job when traveling to different trade shows and to meetings. I also liked simplicity and don't like to carry more than I need. Wonder Wires seemed like a great solution, a multi functional tool in a small product. Also, when you travel overseas foreign outlets vary and I didn't like to carry multiple plugs or adapters. The USB slot is universal so even if I didn't have my laptop with me someone else did.
I also saw a huge need and wanted to fill it. I've used apple products and android products over the last couple years and really like both. I did think it was strange that there were so many products for the apple iphone, and I wondered why there weren't more clever Android, Blackberry and Window phone products available. One of the reasons for the lack of Android and Windows products is the fact that there are so many different models across the different manufacturers. The Iphone is universal making it easier and more cost effective to design products for it.
I then started to look at the number of Android and Windows phones and was surprised to find that 75% of smartphone shipments last year were Android devices in the US and even more worldwide and that's up from 58% last year. The Samsung Galaxy s III outsold the Iphone last year too. HUH? It seemed to me like everyone has an iPhone and android phones make up a smaller segment of the market. Which isn't actually the case (I think I just hang out with too many iphone carrying hipsters). In reality the Apple Iphone made up only 15% of shipments during the same period. So why all the great accessories for the Iphone?
I'm not the smartest guy in the world, but it seemed pretty obvious that there are a lot more Android and non iphone devices being sold today than Iphones. The Iphone market seems to have no lack of products and accessories, but the Android and Windows devices are grossly undeserved. There aren't many things that are alike among the non Iphone phones, which made the task of a universal product difficult. The devices are all different shapes and sizes so creating a case or mount didn't make sense to me as it would be limited to one model. The one thing that is universal across almost all the phones is the charging connector, a micro USB / 5 pin connector is present on almost to all of them. It is the universal piece that all the phones had. So that's when WONDER WIRES came along.
I wanted a product for the rest of us that don't have an Iphone (It isn't to say we won't develop an Iphone product down the line we just might, but this is our entry into the field). Its a product that is small and practical so you'd always have it with you. Today our phones are like Swiss army knives. We never leave home without them, because they are so integral into our daily lives. We use them to stay connected, Get things done, find where we are going, shop, look for deals, find food or just unwind with a game or video. When they are dead because we forgot a charger it can throw off your day. And that is why I created WONDER WIRES.

Risks and challenges
Manufacturing-
I have spent many years manufacturing and sourcing product all over the world. I'm confident we have good partners and always look for the best, even if it means it takes longer or costs more. It always saves time and headaches on the back end. That being said there are occasions when even the best partners stumble or don't come through on time. I'm confident the suppliers I have selected will come through in the time I have suggested, but this is a risk and worth mentioning. They have produced my prototypes and am confident in their abilities to manufacture on a larger scale.
I like to do a lot of upfront work before getting too far into a project, so I know what I'm up against. Of the many projects I've done over my career and here on Kickstarter I feel the most prepared on the WONDER WIRES project and don't see any major risks or challenges that can't be overcome pretty easily. The ground work and agreements have been established. We just need the capital to make it happen.
