Reach is a three-part adventure that follows a family line over three distinctly different time periods as they pursue a particular type of mythical treasure. We begin in the time of King Richard, through to the samurai of the Sengoku Period, and eventually arriving in the American West.
Three distinct stories, each self-contained as a stand-alone tale, connecting over the centuries to manufacture a single narrative of warning to all those who would overextend their...reach.
This Kickstarter campaign is for the entire book. All three stories are here. It's done. If we get this thing funded, REACH is finished. So don't worry, you won't have to wait for another volume because there isn't one. Support this and get the whole shebang. The finished book will be between 80 and 100 pages.
Joe Pezzula is a writer and producer living in Hollywood, CA. He's written several comics (Where the Witches Lurk, in Sanity, AZ) and worked on larger-than-life awards shows like the Oscars and Emmys. He lives with his cat but will not share his scotch.
Scott Irwin is a freelance illustrator (Samsara, RUE). He dabbles in many things art but absolutely loves illustrated stories. Over the years Scott has been exposed to many styles and forms of illustration and has concocted his own bre of what he calls "illustrative un-realism".
Michael Drace Fountain works, acts, writes, and teaches theatre. He also writes comics (in Sanity, AZ, RUE) and film from time to time.
Chris Burkheart is an illustrator (in Sanity, AZ, O.D.D. Chronicles) and co-creator of Oddity Commodity. He resides in Phoenix, AZ with his wife and two kids.
James Ninness (PLAY & Aurora Borealis, Samsara) graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a degree in English: Creative Writing, which means almost nothing. He has a wife, two kids, and two dogs, which means a great deal more. His patronus is Gene Hackman.
Mike Vasquez is a freelance illustrator who hails from Orange County, CA. Mike has made a name for himself across the convention circuit with his prints, posters, and sketch cards ranging from Adventure Time to Godzilla.
Ben Glibert has been working in comics as a colorer and letterer (Samsara, in Sanity, AZ) for the last five years. On the rare occasion where he can resist the siren song of work, he enjoys the fine weather of his hometown, San Diego, CA.
Here's what the book will look like:
And here are a couple preview pages from each story. Keep in mind: all pages are still in-progress as coloring and a few other tweaks are yet to be finalized. These are just meant to be a taste...
And now, the goodies...
Risks and challenges
Here's the cool thing: The art is just about done. We've got 99% of the pencils/inks complete, and about 75% of the colors and letters wrapped up. Our book printer is ready to rock.
All the rewards are done, we just need to give our printer the thumbs up and production will get going. And that shouldn't take more than a week or two.
We really are almost done.
Our first Kickstarter, IN SANITY, AZ, was a much larger project and we were able to finish fulfillment early. We've got this thing nailed down. It's not a matter of "if" we'll finish, but a matter of "when" -- and by "when" we mean will the book get done earlier than anticipated, or on time? It will NOT be late.
