Quantum Souls started as a short story I wrote several years back and developed into a full-blown world of mystical powers, ethereal beings, and brutal violence. On a late afternoon drive home from work, ideas just started swirling. At first, they were open ended questions about fully fleshing out characters with motivations and personalities. However, before I had arrived home, I had the first chapter lined out on audio notes. (I was driving, after all, so writing at the time was impossible) Each of the primary characters are so powerful for me that I often feel like they are friends of mine who have granted me permission to write about their lives and challenges. I am a visitor in their world and what I see flows out onto page. Although at times the violence can be in your face, the story boils down to love, acceptance, and self-discovery.
Centered around the soul and the after-life, there are themes related to reincarnation, spirituality, and the duality of human nature. In the world of Quantum Souls, the human soul is actually made of two parts: the spirit and the conscience. When these parts are separated, the universal balance is threatened. There are those who would prefer the balance to be shifted and irreparable and those who strive to keep life and the universe in sync. Ultimately, it all comes to a boil. The violent and the beautiful meld together for a climatic showdown, and the consequences could change the course of the after-life.
It is my belief that stories are the backbone of life. They provide us support when we feel overtaken by the world around us, they make us laugh when we want to cry, they fill us with joy, give faces to our fears, and inspire us to achieve. Stories open our minds and challenge our belief systems, often widening our perspective without us even being aware of it—all while entertaining us. I count it a blessing that I am a story teller, and it is my goal to share the world of Quantum Souls with readers near and far. With your help, I can bring to life the tortures, trials, and triumphs each of the characters within this book endure. It will be a thrill ride for the reader and a dream come true for me. Thank You!
Risks and challenges
What I learned from the first time I self-published a book has prepared me for the process and inspired me to work harder at getting my stories out of my head and into people's hands. The biggest challenges I faced before, the same ones I am expecting this time as well, were all related to financial expenditures and art-work deadlines. Since I have completed the art-work for this project, I am primarily concerned with the challenge of raising the funds to bring it all to fruition.
Thankfully, I have a great number of people helping guide me through the process. Since this is the second time I am publishing a book, I feel I am much more prepared to face challenges and still succeed. Presently, I have the book written, cover art created, and a printing company lined up. It all boils down to financially affording the physical copies of the book. In the past, I have struggled with marketing myself, but this time around I have a great friend, and fellow writer, leading me along the way to good self-promotion. It is my belief with his help and a successful kick-starter project, Quantum Souls will be one of the next great books you read.
