About this project
Sticky Business is a 2-4 player board game targeted towards a wide range of audience that includes young children. It's a game where you play as a bee to race towards the finish to meet the Queen bee. The average time to play this game is 10- 25 minutes.
As a board game for all ages, we decided to use the classic game Snakes and Ladders as a base for our game play. As designers, we wanted to make it more fun by adding strategic interactions between players and a tad bit more luck elements while trying to deliver something simple for even children to play. As a result, Sticky Business came into sight and we are proud to be the creators of this game.
A new revolutionary Queen bee has settled down in town and started building a colony. As fellow bees, you see the opportunity to claim the position of a elite worker bee. However, there is only one position left and the race is on. Make your way to the Queen and slow everyone else down to claim your position as the superior bee.
Sticky Business was inspired by Snakes and Ladders which we used as basic concept for our game. We added some twists to the game that include Sticky Spots, Buzz cards (chance cards), as well as the unique feature to use 2 dice individually to move either forward or backward. To make the board simpler, we also combined the aspects of the "snakes" and "ladders" into a single interaction and renamed them as Tunnels. Through many of these elements, we added strategy and choice to each player, but still requires a fair amount luck to win.
Depending on the player's dice roll, Sticky Spots are placed on the board to add player interaction. When a player encounters a Sticky Spot, they stop moving with their current roll, but there are a few options that allow players to move around these.
When you land on a Buzz spot, you draw a Buzz card that you can play anytime on your turn. These cards vary in effects such as moving forward 3 places, switching spots with other players, and removing all the sticky spots. But not all cards are helpful, to stop players from using too many of these cards there are strong deterrents such as going back to start and moving back 20 spaces. All these effects bring new variations of play and makes the game more interesting.
There are many other elements of the game that we have not extensively covered so you can enjoy learning with your own game.
Each game box contains:
- 1 Game Board
- 14 Sticky Spot Tokens
- 4 Character Tokens
- 30 Buzz Cards
- 2 Dice
As individuals that are aspiring creators, we appreciate the opportunity to spread our creation to others. You as part of the community at kickstarter enable us the access to money that we don't have. The money will be used to print copies and upgrade materials that would be inaccessible otherwise. Overall, the funds that we will get will be used to obtain a larger quantity of materials to create the game we imagined and ensure greater quality than what we could deliver on our own.

Unfortunately, we do not pay for shipping and we request you provide the money and details for shipping. We recommend you research the cheapest and reliable method to ship from Canada to your place. We will try to notify you when our game ships as soon as we can. We suggest postal services such as UPS, Canada Post, and FedEx.
Risks and challenges
Our team has played a variety of board games and strived to create a simple yet fun board game for the whole family. Knowing this we created Sticky Business, a board game with cartoon graphics and with different ways to play. Our team was determined to bring a variety of experiences for a younger audience, but make it easy for them to understand and for everyone to play!
This is our first project. We have spent a two months researching and finding a supplier. We are making sure everything is in working order when the kickstarter is successful. We also have play tested the game among ourselves and with others to make sure the game has a fun factor for kids and a family audience.
A challenge we had was looking for suppliers that would be willing to help us for the number and quality or the materials we needed. We were able to create a prototype copy of our game from our local sources, but we have made contact with international suppliers that would potentially produce the quantities we want and produce them in an overall greater quality.
The main risk will be shipping delays, this could be caused by many factors. If there are any problems, we will update this and inform our backers about these problems as they come up and our solutions.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
