About this project
The Lazy Gamer is the solution to a common tabletop gaming bother we've all experienced - difficulty seeing and reading the board or game pieces depending on where you're oriented around the table. It ensures every player gets a fair and comfortable view every turn by allowing smooth 360 degree rotation of a richly sized, luxurious playing surface. Team Tabletop has taken the simple concept of a Lazy Susan, and crafted it into a convergence of niche, practicality, bold style, and uncompromising quality.
Added as of March 29, 2016 - we'd like to introduce a very simple but functional Flash based program that allows you to click your way through all of The Lazy Gamer customization options and see what suits your tastes. To access it simply go to www.teamtabletop.com
Some things to consider - this is a Flash based program so you will need the Flash Player installed on your device. It is approximately 10MB, so it will need a moment to load. The resolution is quite large so as to keep the detail high and visible for users - this will likely result in needing to resize your browser window and scroll through during use. The images used in the program are simulations made from real photos we took during prototyping. They reflect a realistic depiction of the final product, but variations and refinements will occur - please bear that in mind.
If you find a combination you enjoy, snap a screenshot to your device and keep a record so that after the campaign we can gather your choices! Best of luck finding your favourite combo!
Commodore - UNLOCKED.
The Commodore is a square 36" x 36" Lazy Gamer, as requested many times by our amazing backers. To make this possible we are having custom manufactured boxes made to accommodate the monstrous size of the Commodore. We will also be shipping with UPS due to size restrictions with Canada Post. Upgrading from a Goliath purchase is simple! Just add to your pledge with the following in mind...
- Both Canadian and USA residents need to add $75 CAD for the base upgrade to the board.
- Shipping will need to be upgraded as well. Canadian residents will need to add $70 CAD extra for shipping and United States residents will need to add $60 CAD for shipping.
- If you have any questions feel free to ask and we will respond immediately!
An individual tier has been made for first time backers interested in the Commodore.
Now, here's a stretch goal everyone can appreciate. Perhaps the Original Lazy Gamer wood colour didn't quite match your room's decor or table - heck, maybe it would have looked downright terrible against the palette of your personal space. Unlock Stretch Goal #2 and choose between 5 different staining options for your Lazy Gamer. Each stain is applied a minimum of 3 times with approximately 6 hours between each coat, then left to dry for a full 24 hours before being clear coated with polyurethane of the proper tint to bring out the maximum colour and character from the wood. Let's give it our best shot everyone!
Stretch goal number three introduces The Even Lazier Gamer Accessories by unveiling the simple & functional Magnetic Dice Tray (measuring 9" x 9" square with 1.5" of height on the inner sides). Utilizing (4) Rare-Earth magnets recessed into the base of the tray, you can simply lock this accessory in place onto the perimeter of your Lazy Gamer, wherever you desire. We recommend attaching it to the short side of the board to make sure your table will still accommodate the entire setup. Worried about clearance? No problem - the Magnetic Dice Tray is meant to line up with the bottom of The Lazy Gamer and maintain the space you need to safely spin the board while in play.
The sides of the tray are solid Maple that has been re-sawn and hand distressed for an aged, rugged appearance. The inner bed is made from the same 3/4" Maple plywood used for The Lazy Gamer. Everything is stained in your choice of colour (from Stretch Goal #2) then hand rubbed and polished with finishing wax - giving it a light shine, subtly accentuating it's rustic look while protecting the wood.
There are no additional shipping costs, as we've found a way to safely pack it with your Lazy Gamer board. If we hit this stretch goal, everyone who has pledged for the Baron, Goliath or Commodore will receive the Magnetic Dice Tray.
Want Additional Dice Trays?
If you desire more than the 1 dice tray included with your Lazy Gamer, each additional unit will require a pledge increase of $45 CAD. This covers material, labour and shipping. We are able to fit up to a maximum of 4 trays per Lazy Gamer box. If you need more than 4 trays please message us for more information.
Want a Dice Tray On It's Own?
NOTE: The shape and size of the magnets may vary as we test and refine the magnetic strength that works most comfortably for attachment and removal.
Let's expand your choices, shall we? We've decided to add 4 Steel Finishes, 3 Leather Colours and are giving you the option to have the bed of your Magnetic Dice Tray lined with a heavy black felt to reduce noise. Let's talk a little about what goes into creating these choices...
The grain on the steel is tooled with gradually finer abrasives then hand treated with specialized metal patinas to achieve the colours you see above. We follow that up with a generous application of specifically formulated clear metal wax, to protect your Lazy Gamer from moisture and accidental beverage spills.
After being hand cut, the leather is carefully dyed to the above shades, conditioned/softened then sealed, promising a long lasting finish that can stand up to wear and tear.
Who doesn’t enjoy a little customization? With 5 unique engraving designs that can be paired with our 5 staining options, The Lazy Gamer now comes closer to reflecting your personal taste. Each design will be engraved via CNC, ensuring a perfect impression each time (this will be a mechanical engraving, not laser based). The depth of the engravings will be shallow enough to not interfere with game pieces. If we reach this Stretch Goal, every pledge for the Baron, Goliath or Commodore will receive the option to add this touch of style at no extra cost.
NOTE: The designs are subject to refinement and alterations prior to production.
Steel. Leather. Hardwood. This top looks like it was built for battle. The perimeter of the board is wrapped in solid 1/8" x 3/4" steel, glued and attached with countersunk, flush stainless steel screws. The play surface boasts 4 inlayed strips of solid 1/8" x 1" steel and heavy, genuine 3/4" wide leather borders. 3 panels of beautifully stained Maple rest within each border, protected with smooth as glass polyurethane in a semi-gloss sheen. At the heart of it all is 3/4" thick, dimensionally stable plywood, so that your board stays perfectly flat over time.
The underside of The Lazy Gamer has nothing to hide. Black felt covers the bottom and provides a cushioned texture while being held or moved. Mounted to the centre of the board is a 12" steel swivel plate, providing 360 degree ball bearing rotation with a maximum load rating of 1000 lbs. On the flip side of the swivel plate is a circular piece of 3/4" Maple plywood, carefully edged with matching, stained Maple veneer. Making actual contact with your table is a heavy, black, ribbed rubber, making certain that The Lazy Gamer stays firmly in place during rotation.
The true beauty of the materials selected is that they will age gracefully to reveal naturally attractive wearing. By the time your Lazy Gamer has become battle hardened, it will have never looked better.
The Scorchwood Die is 2" x 2", hand shaped from 100% solid exotic Zebrawood. This jumbo die displays beveled edges and hand carved impressions (available in your choice of pips or roman numerals) that are authentically scorched into focus by flame, then sealed in with hand-rubbed wax. The Scorchwood Die offers one of a kind style, sure to look good both on and off the battlefield.
The Lazy Gamer is available in 2 sizes to accommodate differently sized tables and tabletop games. The dimensions have been carefully considered to address concerns such as the distance from the edge of the table while in rotation and the clearance underneath the board itself.

The Lazy Gamer is handcrafted and we mean it. From raw materials to finished product, each cut made, hole drilled, and brush stroke applied is done by hand with patience and precision. Automation in our process does not exist. Because of this, each board has genuine character that an assembly line typically would bleed out. The Lazy Gamer speaks for itself.
Team Tabletop's workspace is very modest, but a successful campaign will allows us to purchase more specialized equipment to cultivate an even more polished and finessed Lazy Gamer. Long term benefits of a successful campaign also include giving us the ability to design and breathe life into wonderful new accessories to enhance your tabletop gaming experience. We plan on utilizing every penny from our campaign to make your investment in us matter more than you can imagine.
If you have any specific questions about our processes, please don't hesitate to ask. You will receive an honest response.

In the event of a successful campaign, the immediate reaction will be one of joy and excitement followed by immense gratitude. Then, without delay, it will be time to get to work.
The first task at hand will be setting up our workshop to accommodate new equipment. Once our material orders are placed we will begin the process of physically preparing workflow for mass production. Given that we have already made contact and formed relationships with our suppliers, we anticipate being ready for production within the first 2 weeks of receiving the funds. Kickstarter states that there is a 14 day window for collection and a few days necessary for the bank transfer. Altogether that means that production should fully begin within approximately 1 month after the campaign.
Production goals are as follows: The Scorchwood Die will ship in June of 2016, while The Lazy Gamer will ship in September of 2016. Any changes to this schedule, for better or worse, will be relayed to our backers with a full explanation.
All recipients will be personally notified when their item has shipped. At that time they will receive their tracking identification number, if it applies to their designated shipping method. As a rule of thumb, all Lazy Gamers will receive a tracking number and will be fully insured. The Scorchwood Die will only have tracking for Canadian residents. All shipments will be made through Canada Post.
We've taken extra care in selecting packing materials for The Lazy Gamer. The product is heavy (weighing in at roughly 10kg, or 22lbs.) and we don't want to take any chances. At the time of shipping The Lazy Gamer will be placed in a 37" x 27" x 4" cardboard box that will be fully lined with a 1" thick rigid foam board, securing your product's safety, granted that it doesn't run into cataclysmic courier negligence. The Scorchwood Die will be shipped in a 4" x 4" box, also lined with 1" rigid foam.
Risks and challenges
This is Team Tabletop's first time out with Kickstarter and we understand how important transparency is throughout the experience - both for us and contributors. Though risks are moderate-low, the challenge of manufacturing such a unique and detailed product by hand is apparent. Thankfully, we've prepared and planned for production in large numbers from square one. In the event of becoming overwhelmed at any stage, we've pre-arranged and pre-qualified experienced individuals to assist where needed.
Updates will be provided consistently throughout the campaign and afterwards and all questions will be answered in a timely manner. If we encounter a serious obstacle, it is guaranteed it will be shared with our backers along with the planned solution.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
