Directed by Paul Verhoeven, produced by Jon Davison and written by Ed Neumeier & Michael Miner, first released in 1987 'RoboCop' has since become one of the most iconic and successful movies of the 1980s, a movie that was well ahead of its time and has left a lasting impression on fans across the globe. RoboCop is a film that many fans watched as children when they were too young to understand the social commentary of this R-Rated movie, yet they were instantly hooked on the future of law enforcement.

From Dead Mouse Productions Ltd and Cult Screenings UK Ltd, makers of 'Leviathan: The Story of Hellraiser and Hellbound: Hellraiser II' and 'You're so cool, Brewster! The Story of Fright Night' comes this new documentary 'RoboDoc'. A fully independent retrospective into the making of 'RoboCop' and its cultural impact over the last 30 years. Supported by dozens of the original cast and crew 'RoboDoc' is made by fans of the movie for fans of the movie. The crew have already received support from over 20 of the cast and crew as well as the RoboCop Archive, and there is no doubt that by the time of production many more key players will be attached to share their amazing stories about one of the most iconic movies ever-made.

The documentary is made as a labour of love by a team of 'RoboCop' fans, Director Christopher Griffiths states "To say that RoboCop is a big part of my life is an understatement. Just ask anybody who knows me. It is the film that started it all for me at an age when I probably shouldn't have been watching it, like many others, but I did, and I have grown up with it and found new things each time I watch it."

Producer Gary Smart explains "After Leviathan and Brewster, there was only one other cult-classic that we wanted to tackle and that is RoboCop. RoboCop is a movie that I have so many fond memories of watching when I was a child. I vividly remember being enthralled with the story of Alex Murphy and being grossed out, but excited by the amazing special effects.

This project is a labour of love as Chris and Eastwood are die-hard fans of RoboCop and truly are the best people to do the movie justice."

Creative Producer Eastwood Allen states "RoboCop is a visceral experience like nothing else. It possesses everything that was great about that era of filmmaking, and was way ahead of its time. The movie shaped my sensibilities as a film fan, and has remained a solid favourite of mine since I can remember"

GARY SMART (PRODUCER/WRITER)

In 2010 Gary co-authored the book ‘The Complete History of the Return of the Living Dead’ along with Christian Sellers. The following year Gary and Christian were asked by documentary maestro Thommy Hutson to pen the documentary ‘More Brains! A Return to the Living Dead’. In 2013 Gary set up his production companies Cult Screenings UK Ltd and Dead Mouse Productions and commenced work as Producer and Writer of the epic 9 hour documentary ‘Leviathan: The Story of Hellraiser and Hellbound: Hellraiser II’. Then in 2015 Gary produced the documentary ‘You’re so cool, Brewster! The Story of Fright Night’ along with original Fright Night Director Tom Holland. Recently Gary has produced two new retrospective books ‘245 Trioxin: The Story of The Return of the Living Dead’ and ‘Beware the Moon: The Story of An American Werewolf in London’.

CHRISTOPHER GRIFFITHS (DIRECTOR)

A movie aficionado and skilled editor, Chris made his directorial debut with ‘You’re So Cool, Brewster! The Story of Fright Night’ after associate producing ‘‘Leviathan: The Story of Hellraiser and Hellbound: Hellraiser II’ as well as being chief editor on all 9 bonus documentaries. Chris is also a Producer for a UK Television company. Chris has been a huge RoboCop fan since an early age (like most of us, when he shouldn’t have been watching it in the first place). RoboDoc is a labour of love and a dream project for Chris.

EASTWOOD ALLEN (CREATIVE PRODUCER/EDITOR)

Eastwood is a freelance video editor and producer. He has worked on projects for PBS, Warp Films, Channel 4, as well as several retrospective docs. His catalog includes feature documentaries, music videos, music promos, trailers and television dramas. RoboCop is one of Eastwood’s all-time favourite movies. Eastwood also worked on ‘You’re So Cool, Brewster! The Story of Fright Night’ as editor and motion graphic artist. As well as our Creative Producer, Eastwood will be taking charge of the post-production for RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop.

ED NEUMEIER (CREATIVE CONSULTANT)

For RoboDoc, we are honoured to have the support of original RoboCop creator and co-writer Ed Neumeier as our creative consultant. Ed has been integral in promoting the project and encouraging RoboCop cast and crew to be part of this amazing project. Ed studied journalism at the University of California at Santa Cruz then attended the School of Motion Picture and Television at University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). After completing his bachelor's degree at UCLA, Ed started work in the Hollywood film business, as a production assistant on the TV series Taxi, a proof-reader for Paramount Pictures and Columbia Pictures; and as a junior executive at the Universal Pictures company. Ed wrote his first outlines and film treatments for his first movie, RoboCop, as well as other spec scripts. He declined an offer of a vice-presidency at Universal Pictures, to develop the screenplay for RoboCop, with Michael Miner. Ed also co-produced RoboCop, which was released in movie theaters in 1987.

ADAM EVANS (LINE PRODUCER)

Adam honed his skills as Line Producer on ‘Leviathan: The Story of Hellraiser and Hellbound: Hellraiser II’ and ensured the smooth and efficient running of the production both in the UK and USA. These skills were mastered further with ‘You’re so cool, Brewster! The Story of Fright Night’. Adam is also the co-director of Cult Screenings UK Ltd and Dead Mouse Productions Ltd along with Gary and Chris.

MICHAEL PEREZ (PRODUCTION COORDINATOR)

Michael Perez grew up in the mid west in the state of Michigan with dreams of working in the entertainment industry. After graduating college at Arizona State University he moved to Los Angeles where his first gig was doing Publicity on the hit shows Veronica Mars and The Girls Next Door. Also providing backing vocals to artists like: Ashlee Simpson, Patrick Muldoon, Melanie C. and Rob Thomas. While he continues his solo career in music he produces documentaries and "Making of's" on many of cinemas most well-known cult classics. He continues to run his PR Firm, Management Company, Sing and do freelance entertainment work in the industry. Other titles he has under his belt include: MORE BRAINS! A Return to the Living Dead, Never Sleep Again, Inside Story: SCREAM, I Am Nancy and Crystal Lake Memories.

SEAN SCHAFER HENNESSY (COMPOSER)

Composer and Trumpeter Sean Schafer Hennessy is one of America's most gifted composer/instrumentalists. Since winning major competitions from when he was twelve years old, he remains a brilliant protege of the renowned Wynton Marsalis. Beginning his trumpet studies at age ten, Sean made his concerto debut three years later with the Colorado Symphony. Sean has performed a solo recital at Carnegie Hall, appeared as a guest soloist at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and moved audiences with his appearance on the Public Radio International's "From the Top". The National Alliance for Excellence Award, conferred on Sean, caps a string of honors, including the International Trumpet Guild Young Artist Award, and winner of the National Trumpet Competition. Sean is also one of the gifted young composers who contributed to Kennedy Center's Imagination Celebration, providing his Theme for the Mars Millennium Project, seeing space as the "new frontier" of exploration in the new millennium. Sean's artistic talents have continued to expand into the jazz arena. He has gone on to perform and compose jazz works for orchestra, big bands, jazz combos and solo performances in the Chicago and Los Angeles areas. Recruited by Maestro Marin Alsop to perform the lead in "Journey Into Jazz" written by Gunther Schueller, Sean dazzled the audience with emotion. Sean graduated from Northwestern University School of Music and completed graduate studies at the USC program Film Scoring for Motion Pictures & TV. Sean is currently composing in Hollywood. As a trumpet soloist of deep essence, much of his current music for film contains beautiful heartfelt melodies, light jesting humor in comedy, riveting/anticipating suspense in his dramas, as well as both spirited and touching jazz in his jazz scores. His orchestrations are rich, powerful, and dramatic. Continuing to conduct and perform in his own works, Sean touches his audience both through his film music and his performances, with unique musicality and soul.

Risks and challenges

Projects like this rely on the fans; this project is a labour of love and a love letter to the countless RoboCop fans around the world. Without your support this project may not be completed.

Pledgees must take into consideration the logistics of producing a 3-hour documentary, our aim is release by June 2017. However as we have already undertaken a large scale project like this with Leviathan and Brewster - We are only too aware of production delays - for all sorts of reasons.

If there are any delays YOU would be informed straight away and kept up-to-date on the projects production.

The biggest reason for production delays is quite simply that the entire crew have day jobs and other projects, however we have factored that into our delivery estimates.

Please note that international deliveries may take longer due to customs and postage regulations.

We have a dedicated team behind this project and are supported by endless members of the cast and crew. Currently all other rewards and delivery are expected for September/October 2016.
