If you already use DM's Familiar, you know it's a great tool for helping a busy GM run a better game. It makes your combats faster and your game more organized. What's not so great is the data entry you sometimes need to do to get all of that working.
The new DMF Library is the solution to that problem. The Library let's you easily share OGL gaming data with other users of DM's Familiar. Any data you manually enter into DM's Familiar is easily uploaded to the Library with one click. Any data that others have entered into the Library can be downloaded to your copy of DM's Familliar with one click.
Just bought a new module? Download all of the monsters, spells, or anything else for the module that other DMF users may have already created!
Just bought a new book with 500 spells in it? Download all 500 spells if other DMF users have already done the data entry!
Done a bunch of data entry in DM's Familiar already? Share your hard work with other DMF users with one click!
You must own a copy of DM's Famililar to use the Library.
"Access the Library for one year" - It's my hope that the Library can remain free for all DMF users. I do reserve the right to perhaps charge a minimal fee for the library in the future to defray server, maintenance, and other costs if they become an issue.
Risks and challenges
Proof of concept for the Library is already done as shown in the video. Right now, we have a version of DMF with a Library function that fully supports Spells.
Equipment, Feats, Rules, Skills, and Weapons all work the same as Spells and are easy additions.
Creatures - with their attacks, skills, spells - are substantially more difficult and will be tackled last. DMF has an export for creatures already, it's just a matter of adapting that to work with the Library.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
