About this project
We love the vintage lifestyle. Our clothes have a timeless style and every evening we come home and share the compliments we got throughout the day. It’s an amazing feeling! And we want everyone who comes into OverAttired Vintage to have the same experience.
We love dressing in vintage clothing because we’re recycling, and wearing clothes that were made and sold in the USA. We want to keep this going. We want to bring this back.
We love the spirit and styling of vintage clothes. We dress in whatever period suits our mood and the events of the day. We’re especially fond of clothes from the Art Deco period, and plan to carry vintage from the Victorian era all the way up to the 1960’s, highlighting each era’s distinctive flattering styling for both men and women.
We're excited to bring a 21st century shopping experience to vintage fashion, without sacrificing quality or affordable prices.
We plan to keep a discreet database of our customers' measurements and style preferences, starting with our backers (optional, of course), and expanding to our customer base via interested walk-in guests and a form on our website.
On a daily basis, a handful of our best pieces will be photographed, measured, and sent out to those who have expressed interest and fit the measurements, with a link to purchase and pickup in store, or have it delivered!
Additionally we can use this database to see what everyone is looking for. If there's a larger demand for Rompers (Monica loves Rompers), we can keep a keen eye out for Rompers in the size range our customers are looking for!
We're just as excited to expand our ability to hold events in a real space, enabling us to hold larger events, as well as weekly & monthly events. We're already planning dance nights, intimate concerts, and a lecture series!
We're also eager to host events brought forth by our community. We love living in Oakland, and look forward to improving our community here at home, instead of going across the bridge into San Francisco. Let's start some fantastic events together in Oakland!
We're enthusiastic about using a crowd-focused process of submission and voting for our reproduction line. Modeling after a strategy pioneered by American Duchess, we'll gather our own submissions as well as yours and host a vote on which vintage garments we reproduce! We know what we'd like to reproduce, but we're even more excited to know what YOU want reproduced!
Close your eyes. Imag… No wait, then you can’t read this! Ok, imagine you’re at our beautiful, fabulous vintage clothing store. You notice a large, ornate, closed wardrobe against a back wall. You’re curious. You walk over, crack the door, and peer inside…
To find a backroom speakeasy! You take your first step inside. Are you ever seen again? Come finish the story!
We’re in the early negotiation stage with two different spaces (1300sq/ft & 2000sq/ft), both in great areas of Oakland with multiple transit and parking options. We’d really love the larger space, and we’re prepared to sign the lease immediately if we make the $100,000 stretch goal. Because we’re still in negotiation, we can’t post the addresses publicly.
We aim to close the Kickstarter in May, build-out in June, and hold a Grand Opening in July in beautiful Oakland, California.
Rewards that aren’t store-dependent (ties, buttons, pins, posters) will be fulfilled in June.
The OverAttired logo button is a tasteful 1" black & white diamond.
The OverAttired Society lapel pin is an extremely tasteful 1" black & brass diamond.
The Vintage Cocktail Construction Poster was originally created by our own US Forestry Department in 1974. Yes, really. The original resides in our National Archives (Yes, really). By amazing coincidence, "Recipes by SS & M" is true to the original document. We've only added a small OverAttired logo in the center.
Hair Flowers! Add these realistic-looking faux flowers to your vintage hairstyle! The flowers are attached to a small clip so they will stay put all night long!
Bow ties are adjustable from size 14.5-20. Straight ties are 50" long and made to vintage specifications. All our ties are handmade in Oakland, California.
"Dress or Suit" rewards can be used towards anything in the shop or online. (Kickstarter requires specifics. We do not.)
You want more than one reward! We're here to help!
Select one of the Rewards you’d like (make sure it’s the Limited Reward if you’d like one of those!), and add the appropriate funds on the next screen.
Here’s a couple examples: If you’d like a Linen Bow Tie and an unframed Poster, you’d select the linen tie, and change the amount to $45 on the next screen. If you’d like a Straight Tie and a Style Consultation, you’d select the straight tie, and change the amount to $120 on the next screen.
We’ll send you a message just after the campaign ends asking which additional Reward(s) you’d like!

OverAttired.com is our online home full of our escapades in Vintage, Cocktails, Event Production, Dancing, and (soon) Launching a Store!
We’re very excited that we can soon answer our #1 question about the website (Do you have a store?) with a resounding “Yes! And so much more!”
We realize how ambitious this all sounds, which is why we’re asking for your help in realizing our dream.

Risks and challenges
This is the largest, most important, most exciting thing in our lives!
We're doing everything we can to stay ahead of schedule with each of our deliveries, as I'm sure there will be setbacks we can't predict.
Sam has resigned from his day job and is looking forward to devoting all of his energy into being OverAttired!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
