The Arcata Interfaith Gospel Choir is a community choir from a rural area of Northern California. For over 20 years, we have been serving our region by singing at community events, at churches, and even for inmates at the county jail. Through our music, we bring joy and healing to people and help them get through hard times.
Now we want to take our choir to a whole new level of professionalism and musicianship. We are planning a concert at one of the best venues in the county, with top-notch sound quality. We'll also produce a CD and a DVD of the show. To express our vision of unity in diversity, we plan to buy and wear new choir robes.
We are performing our spring concert, Rejoicing in Song, at the Arkley Center for the Performing Arts in Eureka, California on May 4. Award-winning blues singer Earl Thomas will join us, singing songs from his gospel CD.
The choir is a non-profit organization, and the eighty-some singers all volunteer their time and talents as well as paying membership dues. This Kickstarter project will help fund the rent for the Arkley Center, including the lights and sound; pay the musicians for rehearsals and the concert; cover the filming and production costs for the DVD and CD; and subsidize the expense of choir robes for members who cannot afford the full price.
To make all this happen and to further serve our community, we need your help. Please donate what you can. Thank you so much.
Risks and challenges
For over twenty years, the culmination of our season has been a Prayer Breakfast concert in Arcata, which draws about six hundred people each year. The Arkley Center offers far better musical and visual quality for our performance, but it is in a different city, and will be a more formal evening concert, instead of a casual Sunday morning event with breakfast. We are hoping our fans will follow us to the new venue, but that remains to be seen. We will certainly publicize the new format and location.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
