About this project

On January 20, 2009, President Barack Obama was sworn in, and faced an economy left on the brink of collapse by the Bush Administration. On that same day, conservative forces, including well known figures such as Rush Limbaugh were busy organizing opposition based on outrageous accusations, paranoia and ideas right out of the Gilded Age. You would think, after such a humiliating defeat and such an embarrassingly bad job, they'd be wearing bags over their heads. They weren't. Eric Odom, founder of taxdayteaparty.com built his website thirty nine days after Obama's swearing in. Two months later, the first tea parties attracted what organizers claimed to be a million people.

By the summer of 2009, Tea Party groups were holdng rallies and making angry visitations to town hall meetings of Congressional Democrats, culminating in the well-financed, orchestrated mass rally on the Mall in Washington.  This well financed, coordinated effort helped rocket the Tea Party from obscurity to a hard-core obstructionist majority in the US House of Representatives.

We were there ... and followed the events leading up to it. We interviewed dozens of Tea Partiers, including high level organizers in FreedomWorks, Americans For Prosperity, and the so-called 'American Liberty Tour.'"Mega-Dittos!!!" does something no one else in the media has bothered to do: we talked to Tea Partiers, from organizers to foot soldiers, to find out what they really think. The result is an entertaining, often hilarious, sometimes frightening exposé of the people who make up the Tea Party - people who think that Social Security is a Communist plot, that your local news station is run by White House operatives, and that Abraham Lincoln was a "war-monger" who violated states' rights.

Who are these people and where do they get these strange ideas? "Mega-Dittos!!!" answers that question.

The film is finished, and initial reaction from focus groups has been incredibly positive.  One viewer exclaimed, "Everybody in America should see this film."  With your help, we can make that happen.  We need a minimum of $5000 to finance a promotional tour which will include screenings of the film, media appearances, and most importantly, meetings with distributors and potential bulk purchasers.

With your help, we can show the country who has taken control of one house of Congress, and who threatens to take America back to the days of sweatshops and child labor.
