About

Thank you for your consideration to support the making of this sports-drama movie.  The story is based in varied ways on my coming-of-age experiences living with moderate cerebral palsy.

My goal is to help make my "TRIUMPH" screenplay into an entertaining, engaging and enlightening high-quality movie that will grip and uplift its audience!

Movie Funding Plan:

"TRIUMPH" will have some funding from me.  I need to raise $75k more in order to complete the funding for the movie's budget.  I hate asking for any funding, but I believe it is more important to take this possible opportunity now in order to hopefully share this story.

Brief Synopsis:

“TRIUMPH” is about Mike Connelly, an 18-year-old who starts his senior year with one goal in mind: to be a wrestler.
In weight-training class, Mike tells the coach of his desire to try wrestling and the coach says, “No, you would get hurt. It's a tough sport.  What about bowling?”  Mike replies, “Sounds like a ball, after I retire.”  Mike asks the coach for one chance to try out for the team and the coach challenges him to leg press three hundred pounds to get the chance. Mike struggles hard, but shows what he is made of, impressing the coach and his classmates.

While training for wrestling try-outs, Mike meets Jeff, a scholarship-seeking varsity wrestler. Jeff offers to help Mike train and they eventually become not only workout buddies, but good friends.  Knowing that his dad would disapprove of him wrestling again, Mike tries to keep his training a secret.

Through his humor, optimism and indomitable spirit, Mike inspires his teammates and coach, and he eventually catches the attention of a classmate named Patty by going to humorous lengths to win over her heart.

Cast:

I have been working on casting good, known Hollywood actors who fit the principal roles well. According to their agents or the actor themselves, listed below are actors interested in performing roles in "TRIUMPH":

RJ Mitte ("BREAKING BAD" TV series)

Wes Studi ("AVATAR", "HEAT", "THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS)

Charles Dutton ("RUDY", "ALIEN")

Graham Greene ("THE GREEN MILE", "DANCES WITH WOLVES")

Laura Kirk ("AT FIRST SIGHT")

Movie Market Comparisons:

"THE KARATE KID", "RADIO", "RUDY", and "VISION QUEST"

If the film gets funded, as a co-director I will be working closely with the lead actor, RJ Mitte, to help him achieve the very best acting performance in portraying the lead role, who has mild cerebral palsy. I wanted to cast an actor who has CP for the lead role, if possible, and knew that RJ played a high school student with CP, but I did not know until after I read his bio that he actually has mild CP in real life. We both have cerebral palsy, which affects muscle coordination and tone, but his is milder.

Here is a great, short clip of RJ speaking at the University of Kansas in Lawrence (where we hope to film) on March 27th, 2014:

I asked the owners of Through A Glass Productions, Producer Chris Blunk and Director Jeremy Osbern, to read my script. They liked it, so I then asked if they would like to help me make "TRIUMPH". They want to help me make the movie.

If funded, the movie will be shot in beautiful and historic Lawrence, Kansas, which is near Kansas City.  Many films have been made in Lawrence and the community is very film friendly (plus film productions help generate more sales tax revenue). The "City of Trees" during the autumn season when we hope to be filming would provide a vibrant kaleidoscope of spectacular colors for the outdoor scenes.

Through A Glass Productions, which is based in Lawrence, KS, has the cameras, filming equipment, and talented production staff (a composer, editor, etc.) to make "TRIUMPH" cost effective as to get more production value for less money. The skilled use of Red Epic HD cameras for shooting "TRIUMPH" will save time and money, plus the ultra-high definition quality of the picture will be amazing.  We plan to begin shooting "TRIUMPH" on October 21st to November 17th, 2014, if funding for making the movie is in place.

If funded, "TRIUMPH" will have a great music composition from the composer at Through A Glass Productions. Great music and an inspirational score (like in "RUDY" ) will be used to enhance the movie and its story.
We will be seeking a good, trustworthy distributor that can maximize the showing of "TRIUMPH" in theaters, then on DVDs/ BlueRays, VOD, PPV, etc.

I want "TRIUMPH" to be an entertaining, engaging and enlightening movie about a typical teen with common desires, despite having a mild physical challenge, and show his ability to persevere even harder in order to achieve his dreams.  The movie will have a lot of heart and soul that will hopefully inspire its audience with its story about the triumph of the human spirit!
