What is performance? What is performativity? What does it do?
Agape Enterprise is an exciting new artist-run alternative space that strives to investigate the mystery of “performativity.” We opened our doors in November, set in a former office space within a manufacturing building in Bushwick, Brooklyn. We accommodate monthly live performances and salon-style presentations of materialized artwork, and produce an annual catalog. We investigate the performative aspects of contemporary artistic practice in both ephemeral and material mediums.
Since we opened our doors in November, we have accommodated performances by Chloë Bass, Bryan Zanisnik, and Shinsuke Aso. We are also planning to accommodate projects by Robin Graubard, Shana Moulton, Chelsea Knight, Lovett/Codagnone, Patty Chang, Akiko Ichikawa, and others for our first year.
Our initial Kickstarter Campaign aims to fund our program until we begin to receive other funding sources. Your generous contribution will help Agape Enterprise realize this exciting program and allow us to serve our artistic community.
For the details of our rewards, please refer to http://www.agapeenterprise.com/kickstarter-rewards.html.
We are also organizing a performance party, on Friday, April 27th, 7-10pm. The details will be disclosed shortly. Please join us!
