How often do you find yourself at war with your headphones? We are talking about that moment of ultimate frustration. The moment when, you reach into your bag to grab your headphones, only to find them in knots, lots of knots. With loopit those days are over.
Loopit is a practical & stylish solution to the tangled headphone problem we all have. They are headphones that almost never tangle when clasped and can be worn as a stylish necklace or stuffed in a bag or pocket if jewelry isn't your thing. With the clasp formed, the headphones are not likely to tangle.
Wear loopit as a necklace or pull it from your pocket/purse and give it a shake. When you need your headphones, simply pull the magnets apart and plug into your device. When you are done using them, unplug loopit and connect the magnets near the earbuds to the magnets near the audiojack, to form a clasp.
1. 3 seconds for tangle free earbuds
By using magnets, the clasp takes only seconds to form. It's scientifically proven that connecting the earbuds to the audiojack makes it difficult to make knots. Once you make the clasp, wear as a necklace/bracelet or put them in your bag/pocket. The less often they are knotted, the less likely they are to break!
2. Stylish but understated
loopit comes in two designs:
1. A wired cable threaded through a light weight aluminum chain. This design can be worn as a fashionable yet understated necklace and we plan to offer it in the following colors:
2. A high quality stitched leather-like cord in black for those not into metallic jewelry.
Each set will also come with three different sized earbud tips since every person’s ear is shaped a little bit differently.
3. Sublime audio
We tested dozens of prototypes to find ones that sound great. The speaker has an impressive frequency response, sensitivity and input power. The shape of the earbuds also help with blocking out background noise. Not only is the sound clear to you but with the built in microphone you can be sure your voice is heard clearly.
Loopit in detail
Our process is simple, yet thorough. We start with an everyday problem and end up with a solution that’s better and funner. (That’s right – we said “funner.”)
Vanessa Chan was a partner at McKinsey & Company, but decided to walk away from what was comfortable to start re.design. A trained engineer and mom, Vanessa knew how to solve problems and saw them all around her in everyday products that had become more frustrating than useful.
Like ear buds – the first problem she tackled.
By mashing up her MIT training and inherent creativity, Vanessa conceived a versatile solution to those pesky ear buds that combines fashion and function.
It turns out that, if you’ve got the engineering chops to sketch out a prototype, there’s a thriving maker community in the Philadelphia area that you can work at to crank out prototypes - places like NextFab and BeadWorks.
An inveterate networker, Vanessa supports women professionals as co-president of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Ellevate Network. She also helps K-12 students bring their ideas to market as an advisor for Springside Chestnut Hill Academy's Venture Incubator and as a member of their board of trustees
Vanessa has a Ph.D. from MIT in Materials Science & Engineering and a B.S.E. from University of Pennsylvania. She is married to Mark van der Helm.

If we meet our goal in 30 days, you will receive a survey asking you for mailing address as well a color preferences. Once we receive those surveys we can place our order from our supplier and start our fulfillment process. We expect to have that order placed by March, but have left some padding for time in case there are issues.

Risques et défis
Every project could potentially encounter unexpected obstacles (we hope it doesn’t come up, but it happens!). There is a chance that not all colors will be able to be delivered depending on the number of people who chose each color. We will be sure to keep you completely in the loop.
We view our backers as people who are truly getting in on the ground floor with us so you will be among the first to know any updates we have once the campaign is over.
Acknowledgment for the music we used for our main video goes to Nic Hanson and the music in the "how to" video goes to bensound.com
