About this project
My name is Alessandro de Bellegarde and I am the writer and director of "TSUZUKU" or "To Be Continued." I am an independent filmmaker from Long Island, New York. However, for the last two years I have been living in Kyoto, Japan.
This film is born from an overwhelming admiration for my new home. Every day in Japan has been filled with unique experiences that I am very anxious to share with the West. A major motivating force in making this film is to help expose people back home in the US to the radically different world that has come to shape my life. I would like this film to be able to start a dialogue between Japanese and American filmmakers, and to help create a bridge between two cinematic communities that are separated by many cultural generalizations.
::What We Need::
The funding we need will be used to provide transportation, equipment, food, and other location services while shooting on location in Kyoto, Japan. Fortunately, in the time I have spent living in Kyoto, I have developed many friends and connections that are all excited to help make this project come to life. Many of our actors, crew, and locations are being provided by locals in Kyoto. Combining my inmate knowledge of the city, as well as the assistance from a variety of locals, we will maximize our efficiency on set.
We will be capturing a view of Japan from an insider's perspective, something that I feel is palpably absent from the majority of Western media. We want to paint a picture that will be satisfying for locals in Japan as well as something that will create a sense of wonder and discovery for a Western audience. As a contributor, we want to bring you along on our journey in Kyoto and to give you an even closer look at the inner workings of the backdrop of our story. Your support can help to bring this foreign world home with us.
This will be my fourth film, but notably my first film in production out of university. My previous projects have all been well received and have each of them won several awards that my collaborators and I are very proud of. One of these films has shown internationally in Japan in festivals hosted by Toho Cinemas. I am proud to say that every member of our cast and crew have met success in their endeavors and I am excited for us to all work together to make this film another one of those successes.
::Other Ways You Can Help::
Even if you can not contribute, it doesn't mean that you can't help. Anything you can do will make a world of difference, whether it be getting the word out through Facebook or emailing our campaign to friends and family. The more people who know about and believe in our project, the better.
Thank you for your time and support,
Alessandro de Bellegarde
