Firstly, thank you for bearing with us during these final stages. As usual, we have been spread very thin these past few weeks with teams in China, the US and South Africa so apologies for the time elapsed since our last update – our heads remain firmly down and focused on the task at hand.
Last week, there was a piece in the media that incorrectly stated that we had started shipping, which caught us on the hop. By the time we had contacted that outlet with clarification, the news had already spread. The piece had been based on an earlier update and we apologize for any confusion that this may have caused.
This week the stick PCBs for the Kickstarter run arrived at the factory - 12 days later than planned. We're now fully expecting the run to complete the week of the 23rd of September with product picked, packed and ready to ship by air on the 30th to the regional depots from which they will be fulfilled. Its a little later than our last estimate and for that we are sorry. A first production run can always throw up unexpected issues and this has been no exception.
The controllers are looking and, (more importantly), feeling great. As you can see, they have started coming off the line in all the official Kickstarter colors:
We trust that as backers of this project, you will appreciate the importance that our planned retail launch has to the long-term viability of GameStick - it gives us the ability to maintain momentum and achieve scale. We are not looking to simply fulfill 6,000 units and move on - Kickstarter fulfillment is simply the beginning.
Co-ordinating a wider retail launch is a highly involved process and any change in timelines can sometimes interfere with planned production updates while we message them across our partner channels. So thanks again for your patience and understanding as we navigate these waters.
Just to confirm: retail units will hit the shelves only after Kickstarter units have been fulfilled. In the meantime, a number of review units will be shipped to various media outlets as part of our pre-launch preparations.
