Frequently Asked Questions
PlayJam has been bringing games to TV for years. We started out on PayTV networks and for the past two years have built the largest, mainly free-to-play games network on Smart TV – a platform which is rapidly evolving in terms of being able to support a rich gaming experience.
GameStick enables us to add a further route to TV by leveraging the Android operating system to bring existing titles to the service as well as providing a platform that we hope will inspire a new generation of affordable games for TV. We are targeting both the casual and mid-core gamer looking for a console experience but without the traditional cost.Last updated:
To date, we have been fortunate enough to be able to leverage existing back-end infrastructure to support the hosting, delivery, billing and social aspects of the GameStick content offering. This has helped to keep costs down.
To get to the next step genuinely requires additional, outside support. We need the capital to get GameStick to market. We are appealing to the global gamer community to help us achieve our overriding mission of bringing affordable games to the big screen.Last updated:
Where does GameStick fit into an incredibly competitive market? How can it stand up against the triple-A offerings of current consoles?
GameStick is not going to replace the X-box any time soon in terms of core gaming but that is not our aim today. We want to leverage the TV, the thousands of great games available today and a fully featured controller to create a console-like games experience without the associated price tag.
Competition is good and we’re the proof. In the short time that Android games consoles have started to come through, we have been able to push the manufacturing boundaries further than before to create a powerful yet extremely portable device. And at $79 – an even more affordable solution capable of supporting hundreds, if not thousands of games.
We are hoping that people will back the idea behind GameStick - our mission - as much as the device itself. We want to make publishing affordable games to TV as easy as it is on mobile – it’s what we live and breathe.Last updated:
The advent of smart devices has changed the games landscape forever. You are now able to play high quality games from heavyweight publishers such as Sega and EA for well under $10. Core game developers are now targeting a huge user base of casual to mid-core gamers with spectacular results. Now that these affordable games are out there, we feel there will be a huge appetite to experience them on their 42 inch plasma and to share that big-screen experience with friends and family – redefining what truly social gaming is all about.Last updated:
