      Oh Gamestick ... How promising you were in the beginning and now your just a big flop. I guess you couldn't even come close to the Ouya

    10. amaze1 on October 11, 2014

      At 20$ another Gamestick is attractive for me, after all it works not so bad and, if opened as plain android device, useful for many interesting uses (media player, home automation etc.).
      Also would like to have 2 more controllers to use the 4 player games.
      Too bad all above is available to US customers only. Gamestop UK or Italy don't have them available.
      Any idea to have (in a simple ad cheap way) such things here in Italy ?

      I've tried to "be respectful and considerate" for far too long... you greedy jerks ripped me off, plain and simple. I NEVER got a dock and doubt I ever will. That's theft and fraud, paint it any way you like. It wouldn't hurt so much of Gamestick wasn't a steaming turd of a product in the first place. rAy

      Samm,
      It sucks that Gamestick has failed to deliver to you but there are 3 things you can do that may have success.
      1.) Email the Gamestick support team directly at support@gamestick.tv
      2.) You could also try to contact the CEO Jasper Smith at his personal email. jasper.smith@playjam.com
      or 3.) Try Emailing Playjam at info@playjam.com
      If all this still fails you could always call them in England at phone number:
      00+44.203.301.5319
      Their postal address is:
      Headquarters
Centre Point Tower
103 New Oxford Street
London, WC1A-1DD, GBR
      I hope this helps and please, let us know how things turn out.

      @Bob, the GameStick was done ages ago but some fanboy idiots like little justin would beg to differ, despite the fact that the investor already throw in the towels.

      Little justin doesn't like truth and facts, but hey he's just some little dumb kid trying to distort reality.

      @Mysticmaus,
      Glad to be of service. It's too bad that they took so long, but better late than never. Now that you have decoupled your Gamestick account, perhaps you may want to consider unlocking the Gamestick and using Google Play to access more and better Android games. It is fairly easy to do.

      @Bob M,
      Reportedly GameStop invested $5 million into Gamestick. Presumably they were smart enough to include an escape clause if it tanked the way it did. It was only just recently that GameStop began selling them again at $49, and according to a friend of mine who is a store manager they were not selling any at that reduced price. They have now dropped it to a fire sale price in order to get rid of the minimal inventory they have on hand and sales are internet only. They are not shipping to stores for retail sale, unless an online purchaser wants in store pickup. The factory did not undertake a second production run and it is doubtful that they ever will. I asked the CEO of Gamestick if there were any plans at all to fix some of the hardware issues and releasing an updated Gamestick mark II, and there has been no response. There has been no news posted on their sight since February either. Saying that the project is "Done" is probably quite correct. If you want one, buy one now before they are forever gone.

      If anyone is looking for an extra Gamestick or dock, Gamestop is blowing them out at $20 for the Gamestick, $10 for extra controllers and $15 for the dock. Given that Gamestop was a major investor and partner, this is probably a good sign that the product is done.

    29. Justin on August 19, 2014

      Mysticmaus, glad they got it taken care of. At least they're still responding even if it takes a while.

      Sorry for the late reply but thank you for taking the time to answer my question and your help! ,it seems after a week i got an answer from the GameStick Helpdesk , and they decoupled my account , so it is fixed! :)

      @Cyclops Ah yes, LED pico projectors, and the greatness of MHL, still think Google should be using MHL.
      I've only gotten as far as using BT Controller lite for some tablet + phone gaming, a great way to kill some time.
      Regarding GameStick, I think their burn rate may have been higher than expected, but the real killer was the "Store", if I can get there easily (I'm looking at OUYA's stupid setup) I think there are devs that should get some money out of this.
      With the advent of Chromecast screen mirroring, there's going to be some stiff competition for open HDMI ports coming.

      @S,
      Sadly, while Gamestick did mention that they would be able to provide an Image of the OS, they have yet to come through. You could try asking them, but they have become quite unresponsive. Even their support team seems to be ignoring customers with issues.
      I haven't tried to offload the OS from the stick, but it would not be an easy task in any case. For the time being the Hack works well enough allowing you to add your own app launcher, and turning it into a pure Android stick is a simple thing, if you choose to go that route.
      Myself, I have moved on from the Gamestick as it performs so poorly, particularly the controller. If I need a gaming option while I travel I'll use my smart phone and a bluetooth controller. Far more powerful than the Gamestick and much better options, and with the MHL port tv hookup is a breeze. For media streaming I have a Chromecast, and will sometimes even take along my Asus S1 for Big Picture gaming/media viewing.
      I was traveling overseas not long ago and one evening found a nice outdoor cafe on a quiet side street. After a late dinner I pulled out my Asus S1, phone, and controller, and played a bit of Asphalt 8: Airborn by projecting it onto a white stucco wall across the street. The 10' (3 meter) image brought a small crowd of local kids who sat on the curb to watch. The café owner had never seen such a thing and bought me a beer. Good times indeed.

      *DODGING WALLS OF TEXT INTENSIFIES*
      @Cyclops That is quite unfortunate, no chance of getting a ROM backup from the device itself?
      I think I'll try to load up iMediaShare on the GameStick, and the dock with a keyboard & mouse hooked up.
      What I really want to see is something with at least 32/64/128 GB local storage for Android.
