About Hope Mountain Volume 5: The Million Dollar Canoe
Hope Mountain Volume 5 will be a 64 page two color outsider art and comics paperback magazine. We're working with the same local printer we've worked with for Hope Mountain Volumes 1 through 4 to make this project real.
Hope Mountain Volume 5 will be the first Hope Mountain book to go beyond the conventional newsprint tabloid newspaper format we've used for the first four volumes.
Our goal is to bring the finished books to the MoCCA Festival in Spring 2015 and it will be cool!
Content wise, we're planning on dividing the book up as follows:
- 1/3 of the content will be original comics and drawings by Mike Turzanski
- 1/3 will be original comics and drawings by Pete Lazarski
- The remaining 1/3 will be work we both collaborate on directly (you can read a bit more about our collaborative work methods below in About Hope Mountain)
We wanted to keep our rewards structured simply and make getting a copy of the book as accessible as possible. For $10 you get access to a pdf of Hope Mountain Volume 5 and $25 gets you a copy of the actual printed edition. Every shipped book will include stickers and a small drawing inside by Pete and Mike.
We have other good extras to offer, like shirts, screen prints, and original drawings, so if you want some cool extras grab as many reward tiers as you want and prepare for something awesome!
Please stay tuned through the duration of the Kickstarter as both Mike and Pete will be posting updates on art they're creating for Million Dollar Canoe. Prepare for some cool and weirdo stuff!

About Hope Mountain
Mike Turzanski and Pete Lazarski have been collaborating on projects since 2010 and together they launched Hope Mountain News in 2011. Since then they have edited and published four volumes of Hope Mountain art books.
When working together we pass drawings back and forth in a sort of free form Exquisite Corpse style. Neither of them really knows what the other is going to do and they wind up having a style that is neither solely Mike or Pete's work. Their work has been known to make people blush and say "EEW!" and we're looking forward to doing that again with The Million Dollar Canoe.
We are both excited to make this book happen and can't wait to share it with you. Thank you for your support!
Risks and challenges
Mike and Pete have been independently publishing Hope Mountain screen print wares and newspapers since 2011. We understand what goes into bringing a book of this scope to print and fulfillment and with your help we can have the resources to push our formats to new limits.
Our secondary goal after getting the book completed and printed is having it ready for the 2015 MoCCA Fest. We're planning for an active working Spring and it will be great for backers since you can count on getting your part of the project shortly afterward.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
