About this project
WE LOVE VIDEO GAMES--and we know you do too.
If you didn't you wouldn't be here, checking out this Kickstarter. If we didn't we wouldn't put the entirety of our hearts and minds into creating what Pixel Perfect has come to be today.
To give you a brief idea of who we are, Pixel Perfect began as the dream of a group of college guys who just really liked to game. Spending countless nights talking about the things we'd read from Kotaku, Destructoid, IGN, EGM and GameInformer, as well as our likes and dislikes about current games, one constant questions came to mind: "How do we get to do what those reporters do for a living?"
The answer? It isn't as easy as it looks.
Getting a job at any of those outlets is about as easy as winning the lottery. So instead of waiting around for providence, we thought we would try and lure providence to us, and Pixel Perfect was born. An outlet by gamers for gamers, where you could come and read up on the latest industry news, check out awesome interviews, read our reviews of the games everyone is--or has missed the chance to be--playing. Even more importantly we wanted to allow anyone who has ever wanted to write in the industry a chance to answer that siren call and join our staff!
Thanks to the hard work and determination of the small staff at Pixel Perfect over the past year, we have been able to bring what we believe to be some of the best video game journalism available via a blog to date. Why do we call it the best? Because it isn't just written for you by us. A majority of our staff is gamers just like us looking for a chance to be heard--so it is written by you for you.
And we're not alone in thinking so. Our fan base has been nothing short of amazing in our first year on the interwebs, making us feel welcome amidst a sea of video game blogs out there.
Without your love and dedication, Pixel Perfect would be nowhere near where it is today. But we aren't done yet. No, we're not even close.
You've seen us grow bit by bit over the last year. What started at just a few articles a day has grown into featured columns like our weekly Rants from a Rage Quitter and The Sunday Edition. We've also put together a crack team of podcasters and artists who put out Between The Pixels, our awesome weekly podcast and New Low Score our weekly webcomic, respectively.
We may have been bringing you our best this past year, but we can, and we want to bring you better, bigger and more relevant content on an even more frequent basis.
To do this, we're going to need your help.
BUT ISN'T JOURNALISM DEAD?
Unfortunately it is beginning to look that way--for print journalism at least. But that is why we're here, we want to be the ones to help breathe a new life into the content you enjoy to read most!
Pixel Perfect, from the get go, has always been a free information resource for any and every video game fan on the planet. It makes us feel so proud to look at our metrics and see how many varied people from places all over the globe have taken the time to come to our little corner of the internet and read what it is we have to say. This is not going to change. Pixel Perfect is, and will remain, 100% FREE to the public.
Now for our goal: To stay on top of the industry and really keep our pulse on all things video games we can't do this alone. We want to take Pixel Perfect out of the blogosphere and into the mysterious land of the e-zine.
At this point in time our staff busts their butts to get the most relevant news stories, game reviews, and updates out to you as quickly as they possibly can, but we can only run four stories a day--you can see the dilemma here.
We want to grow, and in growing we can bring you a whole day's worth of news and the most up-to-the-minute game reviews, previews and demo impressions as they hit the market from one of the most dedicated staffs this side of gaming journalism. To do this we also want to rebuild our site, lose that muddled 'blog' feel and deliver you the content you want in an easy-to-navigate, sleek e-zine format.
We want to get the important questions you have answered by the important people out there who can answer them. We want our presence at industry events like E3, PAX and GDC felt and recognized so that when you are wondering whether BioWare will ever make another Mass Effect, or if the next BioShock will take place in Middle Earth we can be there and get you, our readers, the answers straight from the source!
We want our podcast to be able to offer even more than it already does, and do so at an even higher quality, with better equipment. We want to pair this audio experience with an equally high-quality video experience of interviews, creative web series and video reviews.
To do all this, Pixel Perfect needs help reaching a point of self-sufficiency, and what better way to help us ring in the end of our first official year and usher in the beginning of our second than to help us reach this point?
THAT'S NICE. WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?
We thought you'd never ask. We're gamers just like you, so we get it, you love you some swag, and swag we got! We have put together what we would hope are some awesome, one-of-a-kind rewards to show our gratitude for your sponsorship.
