Summer of Music Punch List

Thanks again so much to everyone for all the Kickstarter support
and love! We are so appreciative. So Bobbito Garcia and Kevin
Couliau’s Doin It In the Park is set for July 14th at Rucker Park, (after
the Rucker Tournament!), like we’ve already announced. Once in a
lifetime. Beyond that, below is a working punch list of the some of
the other films we will be showing out in Harlem’s parks for free this
summer. Whatever we don’t show outdoors you can catch at the
cinema down the road, so no worries. We are pursuing these films
either way, as they are all very fine documentaries.

Thank you,
Jessica Green

Farrell, Branford Marsalis, George Clinton, Tim Robbins, Gogol
Bordello and ?uestlove. Narrated by Lawrence Fishburne. http://

Hurricane Katrina, and is an exploration of their struggles against
the police, violence amongst themselves, gentrification of their
neighborhoods, disinterested youth and natural disaster. With a
celebratory soundtrack of New Orleans music and additional scoring
by pianist George Winston, the film is an intimate entry into this often
hidden New Orleans experience. Musical artists include The Wild
Tchoupitoulas; Donald Harrison Jr.; The Dirty Dozen Brass Band;
Arvo Part; Jimmy Scott; Big Chief Alfred Doucette; Baby Dodds Trio;
Earnest Skipper; Young Guardians of the Flame; Big Chief Monk
Boudreaux & The Golden Eagles.

Bad Brains: A Band In DC

Bad Brains are one ofthe most important and influential American
bands still working today. They melded punk and reggae into an
innovative style thathas yet to be copied. Their impact and influence
can be heard in groups like Beastie Boys, No Doubt, Nirvana, Jane's
Addiction and countless more. Despite the troubles of an eccentric
front man they have stayed together for 30 years without ever reaching
the level of success so many think they deserve. Using rare archival
footage and original comic illustrations the film re-constructs Bad
Brains' rich and complicated history.

***And a surprise Albert Maysles music documentary to be announced if all goes according to plan!***
