Welcome to Four Rabbit, travel-inspired sustainable fashion.
I am so happy to launch our Tsunami Jacket. This unisex jacket has gone through a year of Research and Development to make it the perfect sustainable travel jacket.
The Tsunami Jacket is ultralight, packable, water- resistant, wind-proof, breathable, and can be recycled.
You will choose your size and color after the Kickstarter is funded. The jacket will be available in three patterns: black waveform on white, and white waveform on black, and a new camouflage print that is in development!
With an innovative design, it's completely zero-waste. That means we use the entire piece of fabric to make the jacket and nothing goes to the landfill during construction. It is made out of Tyvek, a recyclable material, often used in mailing envelopes.
A new jacket starts out feeling like paper, and over time, softens into a silky fabric-like material, making it even more packable and wearable. It's machine washable in cold water and can be wiped clean with a damp sponge. It is designed with functionality in mind. It has a plethora of unique features: a deep hood, internal and external pockets, inside zip guard, two-way front zipper, vents and pleats to maximize mobility, and ties at the hood and hem.
The jacket comes in two sizes, Size 1 (S/M) and Size 2 (M/L).
The funds raised will go toward a larger production run of the Tsunami Jacket, as well as help fund new product development for the sustainable FOUR RABBIT brand.
Our jackets are made sustainably, locally and ethically. I work with US manufacturers and a factory here in my home of New York City.
Risks and challenges
To prepare for the Kickstarter, a small production run of jackets was made. It has proven very successful and I am very happy with the work my New York-based factory is producing.
This gives me the knowledge to produce a larger order of jackets.
The fun and challenging part of zero-waste fashion is making new sizes. Each garment needs a whole new pattern - since all of the fabric is used, it's like a game of Tetris with sleeves and pockets! The design of the larger Size 2 is nearly the same as the design of Size 1, but with a few differences. You never know where you'll end up with an extra scrap of fabric that will get turned into a pocket or a flap somewhere.
As the Kickstarter gets underway, I will be sharing the zero-waste pattern making method and how our Size 1 and Size 2 jackets differ. (Measurements will be announced as well so you can find the jacket that will fit you best).
Once the Kickstarter is fully funded, I am able to go into production immediately with the waveform print jackets. This is very exciting, as I want to get everyone their jackets as soon as possible.
The camouflage print is currently being developed, it may take a little longer to get those into manufacturing.
Humans make the clothes, sometimes we run into a snag here or there with production. I will be updating everyone throughout the process so you know what's happening every step of the way. I am committed to being as transparent as possible with our supply chain and manufacturing.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
