At Evolve Coffee, we have taken a fresh approach to traditional coffee brewing methods and created the 3.0, a ‘three-in-one’ device, which we hope, will make coffee brewing less complicated and more rewarding for all.
The stovetop process utilises pressurised hot water to extract solids from the coffee, enabling the water to take on an optimal concentration and balance during extraction.
Evolve 3.0 redefines the traditional stovetop design with a removable gasket, and a photo etched stainless steel filter, resulting in an intense and vibrant coffee.
The 3.0 integrates a new basket design with an extended easy-grip outer edge allowing for clean and fast measurement of ground coffee.
During filter extraction water filters through the ground coffee, absorbing its oils and solids as it passes through the filter into the jug.
The 3.0 has been designed with a stainless steel reusable filter, allowing for more oils to pass through than traditional paper filters delivering a richer and more vibrant cup.
The 3.0 pour over filter also utilises a unique cantilever design and simple connection system resulting in an easy and convenient brewing experience. A glass upper section of the filter provides an easy visual engagement to obtain the optimum balance of coffee-water ratio.
The plunger is a classic coffee brewing process. Ground coffee is steeped in hot water for a short period of time and is then strained using the hand pressured filter.
The 3.0 plunger design features a stainless steel filter with extremely fine filter holes, resulting in a pure, vibrant and full-bodied coffee with less sediment than traditional devices.
We have also integrated a durable and smooth silicone seal into our plunger design to allow for a smooth and controlled plunge.
We have considered the end user in every aspect of it’s development, it’s adaptive and intuitive design allows for seamless transitions between brewing methods, and our choice of materials will ensure the Evolve 3.0 is not out of place in any living environment.
We wanted to improve on traditional brewing devices by making it easy for you to know how much coffee and water to use. So we have integrated visual brewlines into the 3.0 that give you the control and confidence to know you're brewing coffee with the optimal balance and intensity.
To brew the perfect cup, we use the golden cup ratio of 60 grams of coffee to one litre of water.
To brew 2 x 125ml cups: We use 15 grams of coffee to 250ml of water.
To brew 4 x 125ml cups: We use 30 grams of coffee to 500ml of water.
* Glass lids for clear and easy visualisation of the extraction process.
* Twin walled stainless steel vacuum jug for added insulation.
* Ergonomically designed cool touch handle.
* Smooth pour spout.
* Durable food grade silicone seals.
* Stainless steel boiler compatible with gas, electric, ceramic and induction stovetops.
* Dishwasher safe.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
We have designed and developed the 3.0 to enhance the brewing experience in your home. Over $50,000.00 has been invested into the construction of several stages of prototypes including mock-ups, working prototypes and a final production model. We have also had access to an extensive network of extremely knowledgeable coffee experts; including international judges, roasters and award winning baristas who have all helped us to ensure that our product meets the highest expectations for brew quality, functionality and user experience.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
Your support will help facilitate our final phase of user testing and brewing refinement in order to achieve accreditation from the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA).
Our $160,000.00 funding goal represents the extensive tooling and setup costs including materials, hardware, facilities and personnel. With your support we can begin the very first production run of the Evolve 3.0 and will endeavour to deliver to Kickstarter customers in late 2015.

Residing in Wellington, New Zealand, we have been immersed in a unique and thriving coffee culture for the past 6 years. It was a combination of this and our passion for quality design that brought the three of us together to form Evolve. As lovers of traditional coffee brewing methods, we wanted to integrate our three favourite processes into one elegant solution that expands the experience and possibilities of what can be achieved with a single brewing device. Our goal is to raise the bar and set a new standard of quality within brewing equipment, in which durability and taste are of the highest standard. We hope to share this vision with as many fellow coffee lovers as possible. By contributing to our campaign you will also be Kickstarting a young company consisting of three passionate and dedicated engineers and designers with many ideas and visions. So please help us by pledging for one of our rewards or sharing our campaign so that we can make Evolve and the 3.0 a reality.
How do I care for my Evolve 3.0?
Evolve 3.0 is easy to keep in top condition, it only requires a thorough rinse and dry after use and can be cleaned in the dishwasher if required.
Do I need a different coffee grind for each extraction process?
Yes, Stovetop espresso requires a fine-medium particle size; Pour over requires a medium-fine particle size; and Plunger requires a medium particle size. For the best results, we recommend using an electronic or hand driven conical burr grinder for an even and consistent grind.
Does the 3.0 come with a warranty?
Yes it does, we offer a one year limited warranty on manufacturer defects. But does not cover any replacement parts or damage caused by mistreatment.
Can I order replacement parts?
Yes, by contacting us through our website we will be able to facilitate your requests.
Does the 3.0 meet all food and safety regulations?
Yes, it is manufactured using food grade materials and the boiler is equipped with a industry calibrated safety release valve.
How durable is the finish of the 3.0?
The metal parts are finished using a high temperature paint and powder-coated with a heat rating of over 350 degrees celsius. The handle is flame proof and cool touch.
Can I use the 3.0 to brew tea?
We do not recommend it, however, it is at your discretion to do so. We would also recommend cleaning it in the dishwasher before and after brewing.
I've only ever brewed coffee with a plunger, how do I use the other brewing methods?
An easy step by step brew guide will be included with the 3.0 device to educate you on the finer points of each process.
Risks and challenges
Product development is a complex and time consuming process; throughout our development programme we’ve had to make adjustments to our design in order to suit particular manufacturing processes, but we have ultimately tried to hold true to our own expectations of coffee brewing quality; user experience, functionality, durability, ergonomics and aesthetics. Four years of experience in the industry has led us on a process of elimination to find the perfect production partner, and after many possible manufacturing companies and solutions, we have found our perfect match who also share our holistic design vision, and hold quality and user experience as the very highest priorities. Idea Developments (New Zealand) has over 25 years of experience within the manufacturing industry and an extensive background within household/hospitality products, electronics and user centred applications. Idea Developments has also facilitated the construction of our production model prototype that is featured in this campaign. This prototype is representational of the final product in quality and functionality, and aesthetics, but is subject to refinement if funded. As a result, we know that they can produce our product to our own expectations and one that meets all food and safety regulations. In lineage with this, Idea has also provided us with a realistic and achievable production timeline and will oversee the entire production process including quality control and international order fulfilment.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
