Yo Ho Ho and a Comic of Fun!
Welcome to the high seas and the Golden Age of Piracy! Stalwart sailors brave sword and the elements for the hope of untold treasure - and no pirate is more feared and stalwart than Catbeard!
We join Catbeard at the beginning of the third year of the ongoing webcomic in his search for the legendary treasure of Scurvy Skeen. He'll have to deal with new crewmembers, new challenges, and an attack on his own home port - and all of that while he's keeping the litter box clean.
This collection will be approximately 120 pages in length and will also contain all-new material not seen on the website! We'll learn the origins of Catbeard's most trusted crewmembers and how they came to join his quest for riches beyond the dreams of avarice.
So let's take a look at some of the great things you could get by pledging to this campaign!
Everyone who pledges at least a dollar will get a mention in Book Three!
Need to catch up on Catbeard's previous adventures? Two bucks will get you the first two books in handy digital format!
Just want to add Book Three to your digital library? Here's the third one in PDF format for only seven bucks.
Never read Catbeard before? Aren't you in for a treat! Here's all three volumes in a PDF you can read in your digital logbook.
Want your digital rewards to be totally unique to you? For twenty dollars, I'll do a digital sketch of a random Catbeard character for each of your three PDF books! You'll get a high-resolution copy of your sketches as well.
If you're like Gunny, and you like your rewards to be more on the tangible side, this is the one for you! Twenty dollars for the signed copy of Book Three!
How about an even more personalized version of your book? Thirty dollars will get you a printed copy of Volume Three with a random character sketch inside.
Show your Catbeard fandom on your own person! Get a "Kitty Roger" t-shirt along with the book at the $40 level.
I'm not kidding about rare - I'm rapidly running out of copies of Book One! This campaign will be one of the few remaining chances you have to get a copy of its original print run (there may be a reprint down the line, but it will be in a whole new format and with a completely different cover). $50 gets you the Catbeard three-pack.
Ever wanted to be in a piratey adventure? Now you can! In a chapter I'm writing exclusively for the book, I'll need some extras for the crowd. Why not join in for only $75? Plus, you'll get a copy of the book with a random sketch inside!
For a cool hundred, get some original artwork to go with your signed copy of Catbeard book three! I'll do a 9"x12" black-and-white drawing of any character you like, not necessarily Catbeard related (that means if you want me to draw Spider-Man eating thin crust pizza, it's fine with me)! Please keep your requests PG-rated, though.
The ultimate Catbeard treasure! All three books, signed by yours truly. An original 9"x12" black-and-white drawing of a character of your choice. A set of Catbeard pins. A "Kitty Roger" t-shirt. A handmade Catbeard the Pirate plush toy by Matt Brazee of Sacklunch Comics (click here to see what it'll look like). All this will be in a wooden treasure chest which I will hand-decorate to make as cool and piratey as I can. Because of the size and weight of this reward, I can only make it available in the U.S. Sorry!
You know what cats love? Stretching!
Stretch goals! Catbeard will dig his way through to more and more buried treasure as the campaign moves past its original funding. There's better and better stretch goals available! ALL UNCOVERED! Thanks so much!
Spread the word!
Even if you can't help directly, every little bit counts, and telling all your friends would be really keen! Thanks for your interest, and together I know we can keep Catbeard's adventures coming.
Risks and challenges
While I feel confident that the risks are small, there's always the possibility that something could go awry in the printing process. Should this happen, there could be a delivery delay, but that's why I'm setting the projected delivery date in September. That way, if it's early, it's even better! Still, since the book is a collection of previously finished pages (aside from a few created specifically for the print edition) there really shouldn't be much trouble.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
