Now, upon approaching an asteroid belt, they must commandeer their vessel to tap into the rich resources it has to offer which will enable them to push ever forward. The dangers that lie to both inhabitants and ship are great, and tensions are high as the current high commander and crew must navigate this immense task before them.

Why do this?
All three of us are long time comic lovers and creators. Creating and producing Sandstone Comics Presents #1 will represent the realization of a life-long dream for all of us. Not only do we have the skills, the tenacity, and the know-how to produce quality art and stories, but we also believe there is a market for our product, with small press comic book companies popping up in every region except for ours. Sandstone Comics is a company based on Prince Edward Island (a province on the east coast of Canada) and our book, including printing, is 100% created here on the Island.
Our long term goal.
The goal of this campaign is to help us fund the printing and distribution of our first book, but our long term plan is much broader.
The aim is that the proceeds from the first book will fund the second book, and that we will release quarterly issues with large scale distribution, eventually taking on new talent to produce new stories and grow our roster of characters and titles. We will be working diligently to get our books into specialty comic shops, retail book stores, schools and libraries, as well as having digital versions available for sale online.
In short, we aim to create fun comics, new stories and rich characters for our fans to connect with and develop long term relationships with, as well as being a stepping stone for other creators into the world of publishing, allowing them to retain full rights to their creations.
WE HAVE CALCULATED $6000 IN SHIPPING FOR A SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGN. THE PACKAGE SHIPPING COSTS AVERAGES BETWEEN $18 AND $20 NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL. SHIPPING IS INCLUDED IN THE PLEDGE AMOUNT.
Risks and challenges
One of the biggest challenges for us as creators is not only writing and creating the stories for the books, but in running the business end of things as well. As a new company, we are not yet in a position to hire people to help us with the book keeping/accounting, marketing, web development, design and sales side of the project. So the three of us are wearing all the hats and working tirelessly to make all the pieces fit together.
Our biggest risk is that the books don’t sell. It’s our hope that, with the help of this Kickstarter campaign, that risk will be diminished and we can focus on getting our books into the hands of our fans.
Thanks for all of your support, and we hope you love reading the book as much as we loved making it!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
