About

Think about the games you've played. Have you played any that took place in a mental institution? I'm sure you have. Do you remember what they looked like? 

More often than not they are grimy, spattered with blood and have every piece of furniture inside them toppled over. The patients are usually presented as either brutal killers, or speaking nonsensical babble. 

Most people don't know what psych wards are actually like. People living with mental illness are still people, and those illnesses manifest in a wide variety of ways.  

Becoming is a game that aims to portray mental illness realistically.

Gameplay:  

Story is the main emphasis of Becoming. Following the main character's journey, you explore why he is where he is, what has happened to him, and what is going to happen next. You will spend your time talking to other patients, participating in group sessions and one-on-one therapy sessions. The game's story will not be limited to the Psych Ward; you will visit the places the main character dreams of, remembers, and fears.

Music: 

Music is an essential part of the story in Becoming. The music will always reflect what is going on in the moment. Here are a few Examples:

Voice Acting: 

No one person no matter how talented could voice act every character. Gaming is the most modern version of story telling. The heart of story telling has always been the narrator. I want to set a new standard in immersive storytelling by hiring the best talent I can find.

About Why I'm making Becoming: 

So you've read all that, and you're still interested! Thank you! Well, let me get a little more personal. My name is Isaac. I was diagnosed with bipolar at thirteen. Learning how to live well with this condition is a complex and ongoing process. I want to expand awareness of what it's like to struggle with mental illness, and I need some help to do it right.

Risks and challenges

I've never taken a project to Kickstarter, I don't have any games on Steam. But I'm putting my face and company name out for the world to see. I would be a fool not to finish this if I got funded. But if that's not enough for you, know that Becoming is my dream project. I need to tell this story to the world; I have to make this. You can trust that I'm passionate about this project.

I've been doing music much longer than my game design, and I've always finished my music work. I currently have ninety songs on my Soundcloud, and they only represent a handful of the work I've done over the years. I finish my work when I put my mind to it, and I am putting everything I have into this project. I have faith I'll finish my game design work as well.
