A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
Intelligent tabletop augmented reality is here
Lampix is a truly interactive tabletop augmented reality system that uses machine learning and blockchain-based image sourcing to recognize, reveal and react to the visual world.
Use Cases & Examples
Create dynamic collaboration applications for onsite and remote employees.
Offer your customers immersive in-store experiences.
Level up your customer touch points across verticals (ex. airlines, restaurant, hotel)
Break the fourth wall with gaming experiences by mixing real-world objects within the digital game-scape.
Take tactical role-playing games to the next level with enhanced graphics, audio and playing fields.
Make family-time apps without increasing screen time
Increase interactivity in school while removing screens from lesson plans.
Enhance modern living easier by building live family walls.
Use dynamic learning to share skills (i.e.: cooking, crafts, etc.)
We're big fans of the Kickstarter community. Many of us at Lampix are backers of other projects and longtime contributors on the platform. We also trust the Kickstarter community to get involved and trailblaze with us.
The cost of the hardware alone is over $700 but Lampix is committed to the developer community and subsidizing the dev kit by as much as 50% off to ensure everyone who wants to participate in this revolutionary technology has a chance to. We feel this is an incredible opportunity to receive the fully assembled hardware (what you see in the photos and videos) as well as all the software and API support to create truly revolutionary augmented reality tabletop experiences at an affordable price.
Connect to what you see
Lampix Developer Edition merges a few simple, familiar elements—and one groundbreaking element—into something new. At its core, Lampix looks like a fashionable LED table lamp, but it houses a high definition projector and camera that does more than just display your screen on a flat surface. Lampix recognizes fine hand movements and intelligently responds to an ever-growing list of real-world objects, inviting interaction on a whole new scale.
Dynamic new scenes beyond your screens
Conference room and cubicles. Restaurants and stores. Kitchen tables and gaming tables. They all can come to life with Lampix. From sharing and collaborating on actual pen and paper documents, to rendering visually stunning worlds for gamers, with Lampix the possibilities for developers are wide open.
Powered by people, built on blockchain
To create powerful augmented reality, Lampix as well as any other AR system first needs to understand reality. This requires powerful computer vision and lots of training data. That's why we created the PIX blockchain token system. PIX allows businesses and individuals to request and submit object reference images and category descriptions for the benefit of Lampix users and beyond. By building our robust object recognition platform this way, the system is decentralized and open to all users and developers. This will help generate a vast, always growing database of images to power unique applications across industries.
Open call for apps + images
We’ve made Lampix Developer Edition as open and simple as possible. Leverage our powerful object detection system with your own HTML5 based apps. Need reference images for your app to recognize specific objects? Set a bounty and let the community come to your aid. When you’re ready to bring your app to market, sell your apps for PIX tokens to generate revenue.
Inside our Lampix Developer Edition
The Developer Edition hardware comes fully assembled and equipped with a robust toolkit so developers can get started right away, including applications for:
Fruit recognition and recommendation app
Document scanning & sharing
Image recognition trainer
Lampix's open API provides basic functionalities for developers to help make app development much easier. We will also provide code samples, example projects and helpful API documentation. Examples of functionalities that will be provided by the API include document recognition and optical character recognition (OCR).
Your feedback is essential. Lampix Developer Edition includes software support and a regular line of communication with our development and hardware teams.
A new vision for a new era
Lampix joins the revolutionary list of voice, virtual reality, augmented reality and IoT edge devices that are taking the promise of the digital era to a new realm—one that’s centered on creating high-value experiences beyond desktop, laptop and even mobile screens. We've already partnered with some amazing brands who are augmenting their business with Lampix.
The next step—join us!
The Lampix visual ecosystem needs you. We’re looking for apps to help us blaze a trail for new kinds of interactivity, and images to grow our machine learning visual engine. But first, make a pledge right here on Kickstarter to help us get Lampix to our product release date.

Stretch goals are additional goals in case we exceed our original funding target.
Strech Goal #1: At $300,000 we will make industrial design improvements to the lampshade as well as add white LED lighting to provide a soft white light so that your Lampix will function as a regular desk lamp when not in use as a tabletop AR device.
Stretch Goal #2: At $500,000 we will make further industrial design improvements to the lamp as well as add colored LED lighting within the shade to provide broad-spectrum color combinations as well as connectivity to Lampix so that the lampshade itself can become another display mechanism that responds to input.
The only way we'll reach these stretch goals is if you help us spread the word. So please, tell your friends about Lampix!
We’re looking to our beta project participants to provide device and software feedback. Help us bring this new form of computing to the world. Lampix Developer Edition will include software support and a regular line of communication with our development and hardware teams.
HARDWARE STUDIO CONNECTION - ENGAGED
Lampix was accepted into the Hardware Studio Connection program and has been an Engaged program participant.
Hardware Studio Connection is a program run by the experts at Dragon Innovation and Avnet. Participants receive advice and access to services to help them be ready to manufacture their product after a successful campaign.
Risks and challenges
The video footage and photos you see of our device and technology does not include any special effects at all. This is the real deal. We have a functional device that others can use.
Small Batch Manufacturing
We have built multiple working prototypes most of which are currently being used by pilot customers (e.g. Bloomberg, PwC, Nespresso, BMW). Scaling the production of the device will require improving the manufacturing process. This will also likely call for further work in terms of design and component optimization.
We have been fortunate enough to have gained some insight into how users plan to use Lampix. However, we want a greater amount of user input and feedback on the best usage functions. Additionally, we believe that our community of followers will also discover, create, and share additional ways in which to use Lampix.
Supply Chain and Logistics
Some projects can encounter unexpected hurdles when moving from prototype to production. This is why we have reached out to companies in the U.S. and abroad to help us with this critical piece as needed.
Experience and Track Record
George, Mihai, and their teams have repeatedly dealt with and resolved the above-referenced problems in previous successful projects across many companies and industries.
