About this project
There's no turning back...
Card Rogue is a tabletop roguelike game set in the underground catacombs that haunt the dreams of so many adventurers. Play alone against the game, or gather four players together to try and survive the mysteries of the dangerous catacombs. The game board is randomly created as the players make their way down uncertain paths. Thus, every game is different and requires a unique approach.
To survive, a player must be lucky, adaptable, and tactical. Traps, enemies, loot, or fame are met around every corner. Players must ally together to survive, but at some point they must betray that trust. Only the strongest and smartest will make it out alive, and only one player will be pronounced the victor.
The beautiful 5.5" by 10.5" laminated chipboard game box includes:
- Four playable characters: the Rogue, the Warrior, the Cleric, and the Explorer.
- Over 150 explorable cards such as paths, enemies, traps, treasures, and mysteries.
- Over 20 unique items such as weapons, armor, scrolls, and potions.
- Player tokens, a die, reference sheets, and everything else needed to start your epic journey!
Gameplay and rules
The rulebook and additional material will be accessible from the Card Rogue website. The rulebook will use reference links and other digital capabilities to improve the typical paper rulebook reading experience. Over are the days of cross-referencing by flipping from page to page.
I wanted to make sure the website and rulebook could be helpful companions, instead of inconveniences. That is why they are designed to look just as good on your phone as a laptop screen. You'll never want to read another printed rulebook again.
So... will you face your fears and enter the catacombs? Will you bring home stories of great deeds and moments of glory? Or will you fall to the darkness that awaits you below?
Risks and challenges
Card Rogue is already fully developed and tested. The wonderful people at www.boardgamesmaker.com (BGM) will manufacture the game. BGM has a solid reputation with Kickstarter campaigns and will fulfill all orders as promptly as possible.
Once the game is manufactured, BGM will ship the games to the backers outside of the US. Amazon fulfillment services will be used to ship to the US backers.
BGM manufactures excellent goods for a decent price with a minimum quantity of 250 units. Most other manufacturers promise the same but require a minimum quantity of 1000 units. The one downside with BGM is that they have a terrible refund/return policy: essentially none.
If less than 1000 pledges are made, I will personally refund a damaged game* up to $15.
If 1000+ pledges are made, I will either negotiate a better refund/return policy with BGM, or I will find another manufacturer with a better policy. Regardless, I will order extra capacity to replace a damaged game* with another at no cost to the backer. If my reserve runs out, I will refund the entirety of the pledge.
*A damaged game is considered a game that upon arrival is damaged or defective beyond reasonable play, and that the backer has photographically documented, and notified me of within 3 days of the game's arrival.
This is not a binding refund/return policy, but I will honestly strive to keep to it. I'm doing this campaign for the wonderful backers like you, and my goal is to see a beautiful game being played around your kitchen table.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
