Our Longest Drive By the Numbers
We have written 40 blogs and received 30 comments on the Our Longest Drive Web site. Since the end of March, we’ve had over 3000 visitors. Last Friday, we sent out a news release to 1200 news outlets and by Monday over 1600 journalists read it.
With only two weeks to go and so much to do to prepare for our trip, the pace may slow down until push off. As of now, nonetheless, it’s exhilarating. Our Kickstarter.com goal has a long way to go, but we think that we’re going to reach it. Please tell your online friends to visit the Our Longest Drive Kickstarter page and OurLongestDrive.com.
What else is new? Well, we know now that we’ll have to buy over 700 postcards. To lighten the load of having to write and stamp over 100 postcards a night, we’ll send postcards from 12 different stops on the journey. Part of the fun will be guessing which cards you’re getting. The only one everyone will get is the card from the Arctic.
Author Jonathan Eig wrote a flattering Our Longest Drive piece in the June issue of Chicago Magazine. Monthly subscribers have read it. But it still hasn’t hit the newsstands. When it goes online, I will post it on Facebook and Twitter.
