About this project
Melomind is the world's first EEG headset that trains your brain to cope with stress.
Stress is the source of many troubles such as depression, anxiety, hypertension and insomnia. Despite this fact, we treat stress like it is just a normal part of modern life. It doesn't have to be this way. In fact, with a little coaching, your brain has the ability to reduce the impact of stress and protect you against its negative effects. This is what Melomind is all about: reducing stress by training your brain.
Neurofeedback is at the very core of melomind's technology. Neurofeedback has been studied for decades by neuroscience laboratories all around the world.
It consists in a constant information loop running between the EEG sensors and the training program of the app: melomind trains your brain by giving you instant feedback on its activity.
Melomind generates an audio soundscape that responds to your brainwaves in real-time. Your only task is to relax. According to your relaxation level, the music will be modulated and adapted to you.
For you, it is that simple. But for your brain, the effect is huge!
Regulating the music by relaxing activates one of your brain's amazing abilities: its neuroplasticity. Your brain adapts and strengthens itself when you learn to relax. Simple, right?
The instant feedback you receive from melomind takes its form in the musical journey you experience when having a session. This music is an interactive composition that will evolve in real time with your brain's activity.
To make this happen, our neuroscientists worked in close collaboration with sound designers and professional musicians to create dynamic tracks that relax you as much as possible.
At myBrain Technologies, we believe that relaxation is a personal action. With this idea in mind, we designed melomind to be the perfect vessel for relaxation optimization. You will be carried away from your daily stress in the most efficient manner:
From day one, we decided that melomind would be a consumer-designed product. All through the project, we worked with fans like you to develop melomind's design and create its features with only one goal in mind: create the ultimate relaxation system.
Our fans asked us for detachable electrodes for more convenience. Your opinion really matters to us so we made it happen for you! As so, your melomind headset becomes a regular pair of headphones and you can listen to your own music.
Your comfort was also one of our top priorities. We worked with our manufacturers to make sure that melomind brings you relaxation and wellness in the most comfortable package possible, thanks to:
Those features ensure complete contact, isolation and a completely immersive audio experience.
We knew that for melomind to be easy to use as we envisioned, we needed the app to be simple and elegant in its design. That's why we created it in collaboration with user experience experts from USERStudio. Together, we made a layout that's not only intuitive to use, but visually appealing, as well.
The app also tracks your progress over time, understanding your brain's needs and adapting its functions to you according to the way you use it.
We know that sticking to any training regimen, even if enjoyable, can be hard when done by oneself. That is why our app can also act as a coach. Driven by machine learning algorithms, our program learns from your habits and tracks your progress to provide you with the best personalized advice as you need it.
As the world's first connected EEG relaxation solution, the new opportunities for melomind are fascinating. With the developer edition you will gain access to melomind's clinical grade raw EEG and melomind’s relaxation states.
- Access your own raw EEG data in real-time from your smartphone
- Access to our platform to develop your own applications or run your own neuroscientific experiments.

Minuit Une, inventor of the lighting cube and Claire Santard, professional dancer, created a new type of artistic performance using melomind. In this art piece, they used melomind for a very special interaction: the spectator wears a melomind headset while watching the dancer perform. According to the spectator's brain activity, the lighting cube's speed changes and respond to how they feel from the dancer's performance.
Yohan and Thibaud met in 2006 in a research laboratory at Hospital La Pitie-salpetriere, abbreviated LENA in French. Over the course of 8 years, within LENA and later at the Brain and Spine Institute (ICM), they carried out research on signal processing algorithms applied to brain activity, and the study of cognitive processes such as emotions, resting state and memory.
At the end of 2013, they decided to launch an entrepreneurial project with the goal of improving the wellbeing of the general public, based on the latest discoveries in neuroscience and technological progress in the world of IoT.
MyBrain Technologies was born in early 2014 and melomind soon came after this. Check out melomind's evolution!
Since then, myBrain Technologies traveled the world, bringing melomind in various amazing conventions such as:
- CES in Las Vegas
- Wearable Technology Show in London
- Meet Taipei
- Connect Days, Futur en Seine and Hello Tomorrow in Paris
Now, myBrain Technologies has grown tremendously. We are so happy to have such a strong, diversified team ready t to overcome future challenges like bringing the melomind headset to life and deliver it to you on time!
A big thank you to our community that we solicited at every step of the development, from focus group and brainstorming sessions to international conventions around the world.
We have conceived, developed and tested the melomind with you, and nothing would have been possible without your support!
A special shout-out to the researchers and physicians of the Brain & Spine Institute, for their constant support. To our industrial partners with whom we interact to produce the melomind. To M&C SAATCHI Little Stories for helping us throughout the process of our visual identity and Kickstarter campaign. To Vincent Vermandel, Little Big Man Production and Franck Obadia at Ondulatoire, our videographers. To Victor D’Halluin, our industrial designer. To Fabrice Lemoine for the musical composition. To Oxygen, our PR professional. To User Studio, our UX/UI creation agency for their amazing work and dedication. And to Ilyes Griyeb and Benjamin Barda, our very talented photographers.
Risks and challenges
Since the creation of myBrain, we have faced many technological challenges, hardware and software. EEG is a very sophisticated technology therefore quite demanding in terms of precision and development rigour. We have been working on melomind for several years, and with the help of our partner the Brain and Spine Institute at the Pitié-Salpetrière hospital, we are now sure that melomind is ready. However, we know that the most important part of our process is that we fulfill our promise to you, our backers, and deliver your melomind on time!
Today, the main challenge is manufacturing the melomind. We are engaged with responsible manufacturers, who have decades of experience in high quality audio headphones and precise electronic. We feel confident that we can achieve our quality standards, in terms of ergonomy and efficiency, in order to provide you with the best melomind possible.
We are realistic about the difficulty of the manufacturing process, but our team and partners are more than up for the challenge, and excited to see the melomind shipped in its box as soon as possible. We are working hard to minimize the risks of these delays and bring the product to your doorstep as swiftly as possible. We will continue to work hard, and if delays were to occur, we would always be upfront about them, inform our community of our plan of action, and keep the regular updates coming. Melomind is yours as much as it is ours, and we will always be transparent with you about the problems we will face, as well as our success.
We are excited to bring melomind to life and see it on your soothed head!
