About this project
Beyond-Human is a combination of platformer and hack & slash inspired by Metroid, Megaman, and Devil May Cry. Beyond-Human builds upon the classic open-world Metroidvania style by mixing a deep hack and slash combat system, exploration, and 16-bit pixel art
The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world following a devastating alien invasion. Players will take control of Adam, a silent protagonist that wakes up in the year 2099 from a coma and suffers from amnesia. What happened to create this chaos? Who is Adam? The story revolves around solving these mysteries in a world where alien conspiracies have become reality.

The combat is inspired by an exciting mix of the Metroid and Devil May Cry franchises. The combat may feel similar to people that have enjoyed Devil May Cry and Guacamelee. Melee combat is all about performing combos that are easy to do but hard to master. You wil also unlock new weapons by defeating bosses and mini bosses to improve your arsenal.
Boss fights will be the stars of Beyond-Human! These adrenaline-pumping encounters will be very similar to Mega Man boss fights. If you manage to survive, you will unlock their weapons and use them to open new paths in the Beyond-Human world.
Our team is very fond of anime! We will have over the top, bad ass, action packed cutscenes to tell the story or reveal a new boss.
MINI BOSS + UNLOCKABLES
Not all threats can be seen. The mini bosses are hidden across the huge world of Beyond-Human. It's your mission to find and destroy them! They won't be a part of the main story path, but the fun doesn't end in simply fighting the mini boss... By defeating the mini bosses, you unlock their moves and add them to your arsenal!
The game will launch with 6 expansive locations. Our goal is to make each location unique and varied from each other.

Dominique Hendricks / Project Lead / Lead Artist
I'm a self taught pixel artist with 8 years of experience. What began as a hobby is now my current job, doing freelance pixel art, motion graphics, and graphics design. I have been developing Beyond-Human for 6 years now in my head, but now I have finally found a programmer to make Beyond-Human a reality.
David Morales Hernández / Programmer
I'm a software engineer from Mexico, I've been developing games since early 2006. I remember it was in winter vacations in january when I first met GameMaker, since then I knew what i will be doing with my life, inspired by a Super Metroid Fan Game I said to myself: "If someone made this by himself, then I can do it too".
Michael Kelly / Composer
I'm currently a composer for Sukeban Games and have just finished the popular, retro styled soundtrack of VA-11 HALL-A. I'm a part of Beyond Human because the aesthetics and concept of the game drew me in to everything I loved about games growing up. My approach to the soundtrack for Beyond Human is to create a sense of isolation and dread while delivering adrenaline pumping electronica tracks during tense moments and enemy encounters.
Risks and challenges
We have been working in this project for over six months with no budget at all in our spare time. Reaching the kickstarter budget will mean we have an operating margin of two complete years. With a "reverse income statement" we have compared the estimated costs and revenues against the required profitability and everything matches up.
In the technical aspect, we've been informally developing games for more than 8 years and we have the experience and knowledge required to carry out a project of this magnitude, so that even if a game will always represent a huge challenge, we can assure that we will complete this project successfully.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
