***UPDATE: STRETCH GOAL***
We are so thrilled that we met our Kickstarter goal! Because the story is hitting home with so many, we want to make our series even better. So we have a new goal of $7,500. Meeting this goal will help us to fund an extra day of filming. YOU the viewer will get a better experience if we can give you a better quality series. Tell your friends!
Connext, Inc. is a Silicon Valley tech company run by women. They are every bit as smart, savvy, and competitive as their male-run rivals, only more compassionate and communicative.
Or are they?
At a pivotal moment in the company's development, the CEO takes the company on a retreat led by the famed "Start-up Whisperer" in order to bring the company and their product (the personal assistant device "Yes, Dear") to the next level. Only the retreat has more in store for them than they realize.
What could possibly go wrong?
"Next" takes a page from our current reality (living near Silicon Valley), a page from virtual reality (our need to connect to our devices), and a few unexpected twists, mixing them up to create an exciting, poignant, funny, moving series about what happens when ordinary people get thrown into extraordinary circumstances.
A tech company run by women. What a novel idea! Why is it so rare to find ambitious, smart, talented women running their own successful technology businesses? Come to think of it, why is it so rare to find ambitious, smart, talented women creating their own films and webseries? This is the question that is driving all of us, the creators of NEXT (the series).
The Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media has found that in prime time drama series, 59.7% of the characters represented are men, while only 40.3% are women. In children's programming, the results are even more surprising: 69.5% of characters in shows for children are male, while only 30.5% are female.
We want to change this. We want to present an intriguing, exciting series written, directed, and produced by women, about a successful company founded and run by women. We believe the time has come, and we think YOU believe the time has come. Join us as we create the NEXT big thing.

Risks and challenges
We, the executive producers have quite a bit of theatre, film and T.V. experience amongst us. Collectively, we’ve never produced a web series, however we are all smart and determined women who are carefully researching every step. We know that bringing the right people on board is one of the key’s to success, so we are working with the vibrant, energetic, and experienced Serena Shulman, writer, director, and line producer, along with Andrew Callaway, a rock-star director of photography. Serena just completed a very successful Kickstarter-funded project of her own called The Ten Plagues.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
