Battle Valor Fantasy is the first of hopefully many games produced by Battle Valor Games.
The game is set in the Fantasy World of Legian, and uses 15mm Metal and Resin Miniatures to fight Table Top Mass Battles and Campaigns.
The Ruleset has now been under development for a year and as been play tested by a large group of people for at least 7 months. We are now at the end of the play testing phase, and are confident that we have the rule set nailed down.
If you would like to try the rules out or even just read them, the current basic play test rule set is available as PDF download either from the front of our webpage www.battlevalorgames.com, or from our Facebook Group "Battle Valor Games". You should join the Facebook group if possible. Here we post all the latest news, and many members post pictures of painted figures and Battle Reports.
The game is set in a Fantasy World, but the rules lend a very Historical feel to the game. There is Magic, but it is designed to support your army, and is not over bearing or silly. You issue order counters to each of your units at the start of each game turn, and then take turns activating them according to the game sequence.
Armies are constructed using a point system, which allows for "extreme" flexibility in the creation of an army. You pay points for armor, weapons, mounts, and troop experience level. There are 4 experience levels. Levy, Regular, Veteran and Elite. Troops experience level and their proximity to your army General greatly influence their ability to achieve what you ask them to do.
Armies may be built from 1 or multiple races, allowing you to field Alliances. Miniatures, and many of their rules, allow you to "swap" pieces, to make even more variants. For instance, you may replace the crew of a Frigian War Mammoth with Vampirian Miniatures, and field the Mammoth in your Vampirian Army.
We want you to field the Army you can imagine, not the army we tell you to.
The game features some 32 different Fantasy Armies, and we hope to be able to produce all of them over time. We have our own naming conventions to fit into the World of Legian, but you will find we feature all the traditional Fantasy Armies plus about a dozen different Human Armies.
The Miniature Range was launched in February of this year, and we have already released figures for 7 Armies, and have Miniatures for another 4 already under way. All of these can be found on our website and are available for purchase. You, like so many others already have, will find them to be incredibly detailed. The bulk of them have been sculpted by Chip Mann, with additional Miniatures by Bob Naismith. They have both done an amazing job with the figures. We have established a strong following and community in many different countries already, and our customers are continually amazed when they receive their boxes of Miniatures. We will continue to release figures for the Armies we have already made, or that are in development already, during the whole Kickstarter process.
We have already released 120 different packs of Miniatures and Accessories for the Game.
The range boasts a huge variety of Miniatures in terms of poses. For instance there are 30 different Dwarian Swordsmen. Most packs have 4-10 variants of figures, plus additional command poses.
Here are some pictures of a few of the great Miniatures we have already produced for Battle Valor Fantasy.
The Kickstarter. We are running the Kickstarter now for 2 reasons.
First and foremost to raise funds to bring the Rulebook itself to print. We anticipate the Book will retail for between $45-$50.
Secondly, we figured we would use the opportunity to bring 3 more of the Armies to life. These will be the Vampirians (Vampires), Vermians (Ratmen), and Scalians (Lizardmen). Depending on how the Kickstarter goes, we may also unlock the Hellians and Purians.
Each army will have 5 packs available to choose from in the Kickstarter. There will be 3 Infantry and 2 Cavalry Packs for each Army.
Infantry Packs contain 35 Metal Figures, including 3 Command figures and where appropriate separate Shields. These normally Retail for $23 a pack.
Cavalry Packs contain 16 Mounted Metal Figures, including 2 Command Figures and where appropriate separate Shields. These normally Retail for $23 a pack.
You will be able to choose from the following packs for each army;
Infantry with Hand Weapons and Shields (35 figures)
Infantry with Spears and Shields (35 figures)
Infantry with Missile Weapons (35 figures)
Cavalry with Missile Weapons (16 Mounted figures)
Cavalry with Spears or Lances (16 Mounted Figures)
These Figure packs and the Rulebook are the basic elements of all the reward levels.
During the Pledge Manner Phase you will be able to select packs from the existing range of Miniatures as well as the new packs featured in the Kickstarter, based on your pledge level. This will give you a wide selection of Miniatures to choose from.
This is a Kickstarter in every sense of what Kickstarter is intended for. I am not some established company just running a Kickstarter to release yet another miniature line, and make millions of dollars. I am a one man show, I do everything myself. I work a full time job, and work on Battle Valor stuff every available opportunity I get. I would love for the Battle Valor Fantasy Game to become a reality, but i cannot do it without your support. A pledge of any amount is truly appreciated and welcomed. I think we have a tremendous miniature line, and a great set of rules, but then I would. I hope some of you feel the same way too! Pledge sooner rather than later!
FREE for all Backers as a Thanks Purian Captain!
Thanks for getting me there. FREE Captains for all Backers!
We have managed to climb over our goal of $10K. Its been quite the campaign. I cannot thank you enough for the support you have shown me, since I launched the range in Feb, and for your support in the Kickstarter. Can we do more? Look out for more updates today! As an attempt to show my appreciation, all backers will get these 2 incredibly characterful Captains for FREE!
Here is a picture of the Vermian Spearmen, which we already have done! This will give you an idea of how the Vermians will look.
Here is a picture of the Scalian Spearmen, which we already have done!
Here are the first of the Vampirian Miniatures. This army will feature all manner of fleshy, nasty Undead critters, as well as the Vampirians themselves. There will be 5 variants of each of the Swordsmen, Spearmen, and Crossbowmen, plus Command figures.
Shipping charges can be brutal, we all know. All shipping charges will be collected when we ship your rewards. We will obviously use the best rate we can for each pledge, and will only charge the actual shipping cost.
If we can do anything to reduce the rate for you, we will.
I can now confirm that International Backers will receive a 50% off their "actual shipping costs". This greatly reduces what you will have to pay in postage.
Also, European Backers will ship from the UK, which is great news for you!

Vermians, as they are known to the race of men, originate from a mix of magic, and the filth that most human settlements seem to generate. This race was not created by the Gods, and as a result have no plans to ascend to the Heavens, atlhough they are aware of their existence. Instead their plans revolve around taking over the Heavens in much the same way they have infiltrated every known settlement in the World of Legian. By catching a ride! Their plan is simple. When the Gods return they will sneak aboard their ships and return to infest the Heavens with their multitudes. They breed faster than any other race in Legian. They are Masters of the Shadows and feed almost exclusively on the young of every other race. They sneak into darkened rooms, stealing away the babes, and infants. You never face just one Vermian. Where there is one, there are twenty more, which is not a bad thing when its comes to racking up the great Tally. They are a Plague upon the World, and the Purians have fought a Crusade against them for as long as can be remembered, vowing to end the existence of the pestilence that sows terror into the heart of every parent and child of Legian.
The Scalian race, as it is known to humans, originates from the Jungles & Swamps of the South East. They are a fierce, unforgiving race, and given the complete lack of mercy they show to others, are given none themselves. They will eat the flesh of just about anything they kill, including their own kind. They find the meat of their neighboring Amazonian and Celestian enemies particularly sweet. They are not known for taking prisoners, unless the army is on an extended march and it needs a fresh suppply of meat. They like to eat flesh in its raw state, with its owner still breathing if at all possible. Success in battle, can see an entire army fall upon the dead and dying of both sides, feasting for hours a t a time. This is when a Scalian Army is at its most vulnerable and many enemy generals have used this to their advantage. Often a small force is sacrificed to start the feeding frenzy, at which point the main army swoops in, catching the Scalians in disarray. The race has evloved over time from the original Reptilian Race created by the Gods, and features all manner of terrifying scaly beasts.
The Vampirians, as they are known to man, were not created by the Gods, and are in fact feared by them. Aspiritai of the Stygians, the most beautiful of her race, was to wed the Pyramian King, Astofu the Undying. During their love making on the Eve of the Ceremony, Aspiritai drew blood upon his neck. Tasting of it, she could not help but drink, overcome with a lust she herself, could not understand. The blood, imbued with the Power of Creation, coursed through here, both at once killing her and making her Immortal. She would have killed Astofu, if not for the interruption of the Expectant One. Royal Wives are not permitted to bear fruit, an act for the lowly. The Expectant One, entered to receive the Seed of Creation at the appointed time, in place of her would be Queen. At the bloody sight she raised the alarm. Aspiritai fled, and learned soon that she could make more like herself. She created the Court of Ten, 5 Males and 5 Females. These Ten went forth and created 10 more Courts of Ten, and so on and so forth. Now they exist everywhere. Wielding a limited level of the Powers of Creation, the Vampirians learned they could fly, become invisible, teleport and more. Above all they learned they could wake the Dead and wield them as an army. While the blood of the races of Legian, tempers their thirst, it does not and cannot ever satisfy it. Only the blood of the Gods can do that, and that is why the Gods and their envoys fear them. The next best thing is the blood of a Pyramian.
The Hellians and the Fairians are not of the World of Legian. In fact, no one really knows where they originate from, and these names are the ones given to them by the races of Legian. There real names, and origins are far older and more complex than most minds could comprehend. The Hellians and Fairians are caught in an Eternal War, which rages across many Dimensions and Worlds. It could be said that they represent the Eternal struggle between Good and Evil, although no one really knows which side is which. The Hellians are terrifying. Their armies consist of blood drenched, armor clad Warriors and Knights, brandishing horrific weaponry, and all, manner of Demons and Half Demons. They are Hell bent on Destruction, which they claim is necessary to spark Creation. During battle, the powerful magics used by both sides, rip holes in the ether, and this is how entire armies, locked in battle, appear instantly in the World of Legian. Neither side cares about anything but defeating their blood enemy, and will not think twice about destroying anybody or anything that gets in their way. When an incursion happens, the races of Legian will put aside their differences, and campaign against the invaders, until the threat has been removed, for the good of all.
The Purians are one of the original Pure Blood human tribes, created by the Gods themselves, and their arrogance knows no bounds. This world was not the Gods only experiment, and from experience they knew all to well, that time, and some force beyond their control would pollute and mutate their creation. They created the Purians and filled them with one thought and one thought only. That any and all creatures not listed on the Great Scroll, or bearing any kind of mutation or deformity not listed in the Great Anatomy of the Races, must be hunted, killed and burned, so that the decaying flesh may not penetrate or pollute the earth. The fires of the Purians can be seen burning throughout Legian, piled high with the bodies of the Un-Godly. If any race could be called beautiful as a whole, it would be the Purians. Every Man, Women, and Child is perfect in stature and countenance. They breed only with their own to maintain their Purity. Non Purians are not allowed to even glance upon a Purian. The penalty for doing so, is having ones eyes put out. This makes Diplomatic Missions very tricky. Purian males and females, train in combat as soon as they prove themselves worthy by lifting the Purian Hammer in the Hall of Ascendance, in the City of Puria. A Pilgrimage that can be undertaken at any age, but only tried twice. A second failure is considered a sign of some form of weakness, sickness or impurity. No Child returns home from a 2nd failure. From their Keeps and Bastions, they strike forth to bring the cleansing flame unto the Unascending where ever they may be found, venturing into places the Gods themselves would fear to pursue a quarry.
Risks and challenges
There are obviously risks with all projects. We feel very confident in hitting our delivery window and in some instances beating it.
We have a proven track record of being able to produce high quality, detailed miniatures at a fast pace, just look at what we have done with the range since February, and continue to do on a daily basis.
The Rule Book will be our biggest risk in terms of timing, but we are well versed in this too, so don't forsee any major issues.
We cannot predict such stuff as health, natural disasters, or other such things but will strive to not let them interfere with our delivery.
