"Me Into You" is a series of photographs that I began several years ago to chronicle my experiences in an open relationship. I'm seeking your support in order to self-publish a limited edition monograph of the project.
Radical Content needs Radical Support!
In his monograph essay about Me Into You, Allen Frame refers to the work's "radical content" and it is precisely this content that makes your support so important! Commercial publishers tend to shy away from images as challenging as these and it is up to the artist and my contributors to bring this work to the world.
There’s an elegance to the results, and a bold risk taken in achieving them. The social space of the photographs is a complicated mine field of taboos... Her honesty is disarming but also invites reaction. She is dealing with her own and her subjects’ vulnerability; they are experimenting with boundaries.
- Allen Frame from "Into the Other, Back to Self"
What is Me Into You?
Every relationship is a folding of one person into another. Me Into You explores the experience of becoming one with someone else, and where lines dissolve between individuals. In "Me Into You," the emphasis is on the individual's experience within a community of lovers.
Through this process, I became very aware of society's relationship to sexuality, and began to focus on those secret places many people typically consider too private to share. The camera became an integral part of my intimate life - as the boundaries dissolved in my relationships, so, too did the boundaries of what I was willing to share through the lens.
Budgets... Budgets... Budgets...
Printing 150 of these books will cost approximately $4000. There are additional design fees, as well as the money that it will cost to ship all of the books and prints and make rewards for the contributors. The $5000 raised by this campaign will still only cover about 75% of these costs, so I really need your help!
About the monograph
A number of prints from this series have been exhibited in prominent New York City galleries. I see this book as a permanent exhibit of the work. By making it, I hope to expose my audience to a broader definition of intimacy, and to new ways in which individuals and communities connect and experience sexuality.
The 8x12" monograph includes 34 color photographs from the series as well as an essay by acclaimed photographer and writer Allen Frame. It will be published through Edition One Books and features a soft-bound art-paper cover and is limited to 150 signed and numbered copies. A beautiful gold foil stamp title will add to the collectibility of this volume (below is a mock-up, but imagine it in shiny gold foil)
Rewards include your own copy of the limited edition monograph as well as prints of various sizes from the series Me Into You*
I appreciate and thank you for your support and contributions to this project.
