Hi folks, thanks for your interest in this third issue of & Ranch. Also, I remain indebted to the earliest supporters who have helped me to launch this small publication.
Issues #1 and #2 focused on off-grid living and stories from the road, along with a mix of fiction, experimental narrative and photography--told through the character of Yuri Realman, a would-be writer living in the woods.
Issue #3 is different.
Like many people, I was deeply affected by the images from the US-Mexico border and the United States' awful immigration policy that resulted in more than 2,300 separated families. ... the idea of publishing & Ranch, and not addressing the humanitarian crisis perpetrated in the name of Americans, seemed absurd.
Issue #3 is equal parts Reporting, Satire and Rage.
The longest piece is a 4,000 word essay which makes this argument: Donald Trump is "a grotesque caricature of the United States ethos run amok." His presidency, or something like it, was inevitable. But so is his downfall, because the images from the border have triggered human, protective instincts in voters that will resonate thru to the next election.
Also in Issue #3: Space Force, cheese boards, Yuri & Gonzo, and photography from across the United States which proves this is still a beautiful place.
Format, Schedule and Delivery: Issue #3 will ship in late August or early September. The book is full color, 44 pages, saddle-stitched 5.5 x 8.5. It publishes four-ish times per year.
If you supported the first or second Kickstarters, I want to say Thank You. I would like to grow the audience for & Ranch, and it would never have launched without those first subscribers.
Risks and challenges
There are no risks in supporting & Ranch. Issues 1 & 2 already exist and 3 is on its way to the printer. ... The risks in not voting out the current administration, however, cannot be overstated.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
