Paradigm’s unfortunate life begins at DUPA genetics, a company that makes its millions by growing and selling prodigy children to the rich and powerful, who don’t want to leave their inheritance to their poor excuse for biological children.
Something went wrong in Paradigm’s growing process and he was left horribly mutated. To save their reputation, DUPA dumped the hideous infant in a nearby post Soviet abandoned town, forcing him to fend for himself.
Paradigm didn't let this get him down and found solace in music. He dreams of becoming the best electronic music artist the world has ever seen! Unfortunately for him, being the protagonist of an adventure game, life isn't that simple. Paradigm's past is set to catch up with him and he must reluctantly step up as the world’s saviour. When really he'd rather finish his latest EP.
On his journey, Paradigm meets an array of strange characters. Just Some include: a psychopathic superhero, an evil sloth, a 40-year-old space cadet, and a professional wrestling pug.
Paradigm uses a classic point-and-click adventure interface with 4 unique interactions; Bringing back the old school fun of trying multiple verbs on objects to see the protagonists reaction.
You are able to interact with almost anything in the world, everything with it's own unique dialogue by Paradigm.
With these tools you solve puzzles such as: Getting an artificial intelligence robot in the right mood to chat to honeys online.
When you interact with characters you will be brought into a cinematic close up and will be given multiple dialogue options, some more useful than others.
Paradigms music is heavily influenced by the retro futuristic sounds of the 70’s and 80’s, similar to the likes of Tangerine Dream, Pink Floyd, Kraftwerk and movies such as Blade Runner.

Jacob has always loved Pixar Animation’s aesthetic appeal but craved for the studio to create something with a darker sense of humour; this want was one part of the birth for Paradigm; a vibrant and colourful world contrasting with mature themes, humour and bizarre characters.
Paradigm is the embodiment of a childhood dream and an adult fascination.
Paradigm has been a passion project for the past year and a half, worked on by Jacob Janerka in any spare time he can find. However, there are are elements which require other people's expertise.
Music is one such part of development he cannot cover. A solid soundtrack is a crucial part of creating a strong atmosphere, and is often underrated with a lot of indie developers.
Extra voice acting is another aspect lacking. Jacob already voices the protagonist and two other minor characters, however more variety is needed to give Paradigm the quality and depth it deserves.
Other costs such as licensing contribute to the overall budget of creating this game.
Just in case you're not sure on any of the rewards, here are descriptions of some of them.
70/80's electronic soundtrack by the award winning Jonas Kjellberg. You can get both mp3 or FLAC formats. Also including bonus songs found in-game.
The digital art book will be an in-depth look into the art and design of Paradigm. This will include a step by step process how I created the characters/environments/animation, covering technical aspects, ideation and the design process. It will also come with a download of the Photoshop brushes I used to create the art.
Your full name or nickname (as long as it's not offensive) will appear in the game world and in the credits! Your name will appear somewhere in-game, be it within the prodigy children computer bio register, passive aggressive post it notes, Olof's appointment list, scientific discovery founder lists and other various locations.
The Super Mutant Pack is the only physical reward for the Kickstarter. It contains the following.
An A2 Print: of your choosing of various art from the game. Click here to see that list.
Super Secret Surprise A3 Print: You get a A3 print chosen from random. (it will be different to your A2 print)
Postcard: You will get an official postcard from the land of Krusz. It will contain a custom handwritten message from a character from Paradigm. You may request it to be addressed to anyone, and the character to talk about something specific (as long as it is not offensive)
Sticker Swag: You get 3 stickers which are of Olof, Paradigm and the hair metal pug (former professional wrestler). Show the world you love abominations against nature.
Lastly, posters will be signed!
Here's your chance to become a head in a jar! Your likeness will be used to model a head in a jar which will be held at the DUPA genetics facility found in the second act. Your name or nickname will be written under it (as long as it's not offensive). An A3 print of your jar head will also be included in your Super Mutant Fan pack. This is limited to 25 backers so get in quick!
You will become a fully interactive character in the world Paradigm and will be involved with the design process of your character, this is exclusive to one lucky backer! I will be working with you one-on-one to insure your character is awesome and unique, just like you.
I will work with you closely over 3 days (Via Skype or in person if you can get to Perth, flights and accommodation not included) and will tailor an individual course to either start your adventure game or simply improve on a certain aspect of your choosing. That either being art, writing, marketing or you want to get really good at cup and ball. I’ll spend 5 days with you to start your own adventure game! This will include help with developing the idea, making some of the initial concept art with you, teaching you the basics of Visionaire (Game engine). And lastly super uplifting comments, it’ll be like Dead Poets Society, but with less standing on tables. You can request to focus on any element of development . This is super exclusive to one backer and will be done over Skype unless you can come to Perth, AU (accommodation and flights not included).

The whole game is planned, around 45 percent of the art assets have been made.

Isn't $14000 not a lot for game development?
I'm lucky enough that I can cover a lot of the aspects of development, the money is primarily for music and voice acting. My living costs are covered by freelance and weekend work.
Risiken und Herausforderungen
Like any creative project, problems can arise throughout development that you can't plan for.
However Paradigm is a project that I'm extremely invested in on a personal level. I've already spent most of my spare time into developing Paradigm, with or without the kickstarter it will be made. Crowdfunding acts to speed up that process considerably, and create the high polish project it deserves to be. Also adding the responsibility to provide you the backer, the best product you deserve.
