FAR FROM FAITH tells the story of three intertwining lives that have been affected by this organisation's closely guarded secret.
A secret that if exposed, could change the world forever.
B is a young girl born and raised in a soon to be forgotten facility known as 'The House', designed to keep certain truths hidden. She has never set foot outside in the 14 years she's been alive.
Mr. Bailey has been trusted to take charge of the organisation. However, for reasons unknown to his colleagues, he has now set about trying to cut any ties to the organisation, and by doing so, destroy any knowledge of its existence.
Helen, a god-fearing government administrator, has inadvertently got mixed up in this conspiracy. She has been sent to discover what exactly 'The House' is , and why it's being funded. When Helen finds herself in-between Mr. Bailey and the powers that be at MI5, her whole life gets turned upside down.
While FFF is a sci-fi comic series for sure, it's focus is absolutely on the character development. We think you'll find both the characters and the situation they're all about to find themselves in truly interesting and we hope you'll want more!
Lynne Triplett ( a previous Game Artist at SEGA ) has been working tirelessly to turn this awesome comic script, including the world it exists in, into the beautiful project seen in our video.
As massive comic fans themselves, Its been a personal goal of both A-J and Lynne to see their stories on the shelves of real stores.
We stand by the script, have the perfect artist on board, retails partners that are interested in stocking the books based on our planned professional print run, and we're ready to turn dreams into reality!
Don't you just hate it when buy a comic because of it's awesome cover art, only to find it's rushed and sketchy artwork gets in the way of you enjoying the story? Not with FFF.
Lynne is working super hard to create beautiful quality artwork on each and every one of the nearly 90 pages that make up these three issues.
With no ads and a massive 32 pages each issue, these really are premium books you're investing in.
Additionally, you'll find no cheap instant or digital print here.
Sure, that would be easier... but it our minds, it's just not a legit comic unless it looks, feels and even smells like the standard US titles you know and love from the big shots in the industry. This means a pretty big print-run, and it's half the reason why we're here on Kickstarter - we want to be able do this properly!
Our comics are the real deal. The slightly shoddy animation seen in the video is just to give you a glimpse of the tone and overall feel of the narrative... we'll stick to what we're good at from now on!
We've got a range of simpler rewards on offer, but here's some extra detail on the one everyone's been talking about!
As Lynne mentions in the video, the mystery item is just too spoilerific to reveal right now. Our friends at Kickstarter are happy for us to promote this item as a mystery, but it's important to note that it's a very special piece of memorabilia relating to the story and a character. It's absolutely connected to the project and not a random obscure piece of swag. Each evidence bag contains the exact same item... Oh, and that's just fake blood it's covered in!
And remember, no matter how much you pledge, you'll be sure to get your name inside the limited edition of Issue One. *Final artwork TBC
As a backer, you'll also receive regular updates and sneak previews of the book as it's being drawn. We're also looking at putting out a survey or two to help us with a few key decisions along the way, so you'll feel like part of the team as soon as we kick things off! So you'll get to see behind the scenes, and maybe help us choose which cover art to go for etc..
We've kept this super simple... our 100% funding goal covers the cost of commissioning the artwork needed to finish the comics (80 more pages!), plus the printing and shipping costs associated with getting them into backers hands. That's break-even.
Any additional funding will help us order a larger run of comics, driving the cost per issue down so we can get more stock into shops for people to discover!
Adam-James, the creator and writer of FFF has two more sets, chapters Two and Three, already planned out to continue this fantastic story where the first three issues leave off.
Without giving too much away, Chapter One perfectly sets up the world of FAR FROM FAITH, setting its rules and establishing its core characters.
So how to get there? We're aiming to sell through our initial stock of FFF after this first print run for Kickstarter backers, gathering a little profit on all copies over the 100% funding goal. Hopefully, this will generate enough funds to put chapters Two and Three into production back-to-back soon after.
We're also going to look into a graphic novel version, perhaps consisting of a reprinted Chapter One, plus an all-new Chapter Two (three additional issues worth). But that's a milestone for another day.
Right now, we're all about getting these first issues into the hands of eager readers and establishing a fan base for what we'd love to be a long-running series. We've certainly got enough material for it!
Risks and challenges
Scripts are written, character style guides created (you'll get to see these in the KickStarter Special Edition Set) and we're good to go... all we need to do is finish drawing everything!
Lynne's fantastic artwork takes time, and she's put so much into getting this project off the ground already, but she'll need funds to be able to book the many months out to continue working on the project.
As with all KickStarter projects, there is a risk of delay. But with a solid project plan and no planned distractions, we think we're in a good place to get this finished and posted to you before April 2014 comes around.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
