Welcome to Katecht, the last bastion in the universe . . .
It's true, Planet Bastard has been funded! But there is still time to back the project and help us refine and perfect the final product. Even now, we're hard at work to constantly improve the book and its related products, and for every additional dollar we fund, you're going to be getting better books, better artwork, better collectables, and ultimately a much better experience. Let's see if we can hit $4000! This will arm us with the funds to give this thing a huge polish and make it shine. We'll be frequently updating the Planet Bastard Facebook page with more news, as well as in the updates section here.
Approximately one thousand years ago, an event of catastrophic scale sent all remaining lifeforms flocking to a backwater planet of no significance. The world is blood and sand, a place of doom and plunder damaged from centuries of chaos. They call it Planet Bastard.
There's no question why.
Now, the rebel group known as the Iconoclast has struck a fatal blow to the reigning Confederacy. The world has been thrown into chaos. The Confederacy is vulnerable, but alive. And ripples are spreading through the nations. Not so unlike the world itself, we find ourselves following damaged and broken characters, each one with a part to play in the grand plan of Planet Bastard. A macabre plan, perfectly orchestrated.
Planet Bastard is a story that will be told through periodic anthologies and novels written by some of the best writers in Australia—and soon, the world. It is a seed planted in the land down-under, but with your help, we will be able to sow it into the product it begs to be.
The Planet Bastard anthologies are the beating heart of the project. Each story is a quick and digestible chunk of a larger narrative. Jump in at any point, as each story stands on its own while also serving as a smaller piece of a larger story. Volume 1 includes fourteen short stories by some of the best new writers in Australia, fully-illustrated by Tithi Luadthong.
Heroes of Planet Bastard
Planet Bastard is all about the characters, and you can read below to learn more about their roles in Volume One. Keep in mind, four of the fourteen stories will be kept secret until we get closer to launch.
GILGAN: An old man who finds himself in the deserts of Archaeus, on a secret mission that will set things into motion.
FEX: An enigmatic officer on board the Confederacy’s prized warship, Leviathan, who becomes entangled in a secret plot that could alter the course of the war.
HANNAH: The last of her kind, who sets out on a quest for vengeance that will force her to face her demons and venture straight into enemy territory.
LESTON: A supernatural investigator tasked with slaying a monster that’s terrorising the languishing city of Draghelm, and may find more than he bargained for.
EVA: A young woman destined to change the world, who must rise up to defend her daughter and those she loves from the oppressive hammer of the Confederacy.
VAGELDORF & LUDENBERG: Two of the greatest composers in the world, and their famous rivalry that became a story of legend.
MEIRA: A freelancer for high-paying clients, who travels to the dangerous country of Skarros to steal a delicate and important artefact.
OSWALD: A man on the run who returns home to take part in a high-stakes Azherok tournament—the prize being an eccentric robot.
ARGUS: A soldier of the Iconoclast who embarks upon a suicide mission to bring down the Confederacy once and for all.
CHOVESKI: A famous mutant killer who must work together with his prey when a simple job turns ugly, and he ends up in the hands of an old rival.

Risks and challenges
We are starting this project as small as we possibly can, with short print runs and limited edition miniatures. This will ensure everything remains at a manageable level. However, as we are working with a large team based across the world, there is always the chance of running into design or manufacturing issues. We will be sure to keep you updated if issues do occur, although we will do everything in our power to ensure your products are delivered on time and in excellent condition.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
