Bloc by Bloc: The Insurrection Game is a semi-cooperative tabletop game inspired by 21st century protest movements, riots and popular uprisings. Out of Order Games is excited to launch this thoroughly updated 2nd edition featuring brand new art, streamlined gameplay, improved components and new objectives for the insurrection!
Gameplay Overview: In Bloc by Bloc, each player controls a faction of revolutionaries—Workers, Students, Neighbors, or Prisoners—fighting against the State in the streets of a city that change with each game. Build barricades, clash with riot cops, occupy districts, loot shopping centers, and liberate the city before time runs out and the military arrives! Bloc by Bloc features hidden agendas, deep strategy, area control, asymmetrical player abilities, and a special method for randomly generating billions of unique city layouts. Bloc by Bloc can also be played in fully cooperative mode!
Insurrections & Inspiration: In 2016, the first edition of Bloc by Bloc was published by Out of Order Games after a successful Kickstarter. The development of this provocative and educational game had taken more than five years, drawing inspiration from social insurrections in cities around the world such as Oaxaca, Athens, Oakland, Cairo, Istanbul, Ferguson, and many others. In addition to brand new art and updated visual design across all game components, Bloc by Bloc 2nd edition introduces a significant range of improved rules and mechanics. The result is an engaging and streamlined gameplay experience that takes the insurrectionary strategy and tension to the next level!
Here are some of the most exciting changes:
- Elevated semi-cooperative experience: A brand new agenda deck combined with new endgame rules vastly improves Bloc by Bloc’s semi-cooperative mode, making it the preferred way to play. Fully cooperative mode is improved in the 2nd edition as well.
- New objectives for the insurrection: The insurrection of the 2nd edition is less directed at seizing the state and more about spreading the insurrection to the entire city. Unless your faction has a vanguardist agenda…

Awesome 2 player mode: Bloc by Bloc 2nd edition features a highly improved two player experience with each player playing as one faction in fully cooperative mode.

Streamlined Occupations & Special Abilities: The types of occupations available to the Workers, Students, Neighbors and Prisoners have been overhauled. In addition, each faction now has a unique special ability they can utilize at any time.

Dynamic Police Morale: Police Morale rises more rapidly but is now lowered each time riot cops or riot vans are defeated in clashes.

Dynamic Countdown: Player decisions now affect the speed of the countdown marking the number of nights before the military arrives to crush the insurrection.
- Updated Deck Mechanics: The Police Ops and Manifestation decks have both been streamlined with improved mechanics and design.
- Variable difficulty level: Easily modify the difficulty of the game with one simple setup step.

Out of Order Games is committed to maintaining access to free print and play files of Bloc by Bloc for anyone interested in assembling DIY copies of the game. Final hi-resolution, full-color, print and play files of the 2nd edition will be released online free of charge later this year. Print and play files of the 1st edition are still available here.

If this campaign is successfully funded, a limited supply of copies will be made available for donation. This supply will keep increasing as the level of campaign funding increases. Only for backers in countries where shipping individual copies of the game is cost-prohibitive. This bulk order includes 12 copies of Bloc by Bloc 2nd edition at a heavily discounted rate. The backer is responsible for paying any import fees and taxes. Please message Out of Order if your country is not listed in the shipping options. We will calculate your shipping cost and add your country to the list of available shipping options if it meets the requirements for this pledge level. Includes all applicable stretch goals.
Out of Order Games is partnering with the fulfillment experts at Blackbox to make sure your copy of Bloc by Bloc arrives in perfect shape and on time. Fulfillment of Bloc by Bloc as part of this campaign is EU-friendly and Canada-friendly. In addition to those in the US, backers in Canada or the EU won’t have to pay any additional VAT or import taxes.
For backers outside of these regions, it’s possible (but very unlikely) there may be additional customs fees upon delivery, depending on country and delivery address. This can vary widely country by country (and even by individual zip code) and is unavoidable in a small number of cases. Out of Order has also made a special Global Distro Bulk Order available for backers in countries where shipping individual copies of the game is cost-prohibitive (see above).

The design and development of Bloc by Bloc 2nd edition is now complete. Production is set to begin in July and your copy will be at your doorstep by November. By backing this Kickstarter campaign, you are buying into the initial printing. This helps reach the quantity of games necessary to produce this as a premium quality board game with domestic manufacturers while keeping the cost as affordable as possible. In return, you get the game before it’s available anywhere else and at a discounted rate available only during the Kickstarter campaign.

Risks and challenges
All board game manufacturing and fulfillment includes the usual risks related to printing, shipping, customs, and other unintended delays. In the unlikely event that a problem emerges, Out of Order Games will maintain transparent communication about the state of the project and work towards a resolution of the issue. This is the second Bloc by Bloc Kickstarter and Out of Order Games has continued to fine tune its game publishing and distribution methods to ensure a smooth process. All manufacturing & fulfillment partners have been fully vetted and the timeline for this project has been structured to prioritize getting the game into your hands on time and as promised.
