Octofire in the News:
We wanted a charger that can charge everything in our homes. Almost all our family members had a Smartphone. Also, most of our homes had a couple of tablets (some had iPads and other Android) and iPods. In total, we wanted a charger that has more than 6 USB ports and can charge almost any type of device. We started looking for a multi-port USB charger, but our search on Amazon and other places yielded chargers that had no more than 4 ports. Even with 4 ports, they were doing only 1 Amp per port which is not enough current for optimal charging of tablets (normally tablets require 2.1 Amp current). Also, these chargers were designed for particular brands like Apple, Samsung etc. and none of them were supporting optimal charging in an intelligent and brand independent way.
This is where the idea of Octofire came from. It was a difficult journey, but we took up this challenge. We set out to design a charger that can charge almost any USB powered device under the sun. This required an intelligent circuit that is capable of device detection and USB port configuration, leading to optimal charging. In addition, we wanted this charger to be able to deliver enough power to charge 8 tablets at optimal current simultaneously.
After months of design work and testing, we are pleased to say that we have achieved what we set out to do. Now, we have a working prototype that is near production. We are very excited to share this product with you, and would like you to be part of our team by supporting this project.

Skiva Power Flow Octofire Turbo was designed to enable fast charging of multiple devices simultaneously. It took us a long time to design a complete solution for that. After a long research and rigorous testing, the device came into existence, and is finally ready to make a mark in the industry for being the first device of its kind.
We started out by experimenting with intelligent detection of devices to optimized charge current, as well as finding best in class DC to DC conversion IC. We choose a DC to DC conversion IC that is being used in high end server farms and is very efficient. This enabled us to make a design that does not need a fan to cool it even at peak loads.

We have tested this charger with anything that we can get our hands on and it was able to charge it. At the end of this page you will find a list of devices we have tested along with our component partners. Note that even if your device is not listed, we are 99% sure that if your device works with any third party USB charger, it will also work with OctoFire.

We have an early prototype ready which is being tested over past couple of months. Now we are almost ready to create tooling for plastic and electronics.

Risks and challenges
Today, we have a working final design prototype in our hands. We have been testing them for a couple of months and everything is working as expected. We will now need to transition from our ready to market working prototypes to actual shipping products. We have talked to our component vendors and secured component supply for production. We have an international partnership with a reputed manufacturer. So, the risk factor has been reduced to logistics and any unforeseen issues on production line. These unforeseen issues may take time to resolve, and can cause delay in delivery. However, we are confident that we will deliver on time.
