What is TromaDance?
TromaDance is the first film festival wholeheartedly devoted to filmmakers and fans. Unlike every other film festival, TromaDance does not charge filmmakers to submit their films. Entrance to all screenings is free and open to the public. Also, there are no VIP reservations or preferential treatment regarding films, panels, or parties of any kind given. The organizers of TromaDance believe films are meant to be seen, especially when it comes to new filmmakers. Art - in all its forms - is for the people!
How did TromaDance get its start?
Tromadance was inspired by South Park Co-Creator Trey Parker, and founded by Lloyd Kaufman, President of Troma Entertainment and Creator of The Toxic Avenger in 1999.
How does TromaDance support independent film makers?
Unlike mainstream, elitist festivals, like Cannes and Sundance, TromaDance does not charge film makers high fees in order to have their films considered. Submitting a film to Tromadance is completely FREE.
How do you run TromaDance?
TromaDance is run with the help of volunteers, whose love of independent film rivals that of the attendees.
How do I attend TromaDance?
TromaDance does not have a strict VIP policy! Admission to the festival and all screenings is absolutely free! It is encouraged that you arrive early, however, as space is limited.
What are some films that have premiered at TromaDance?
TromaDance hosted the North American premiere of The Human Centipede, as well as The Taint, and Kidnapped.
Can I network and meet people who can help me advance my career?
Yes! TromaDance holds discussion panels with important individuals in the independent world who enjoy interacting with fans. Past guests include Oscar Nominated Actress Karen Black, Jenna Fischer, Ghost Rider Producer Steven Paul, Adam Rifkin, House of the Devil Producer Larry Fessenden, and Oscar Nominated animator Bill Plympton.
Where is TromaDance being held?
The festival will be held in historic Asbury Park, New Jersey on May 4th and 5th at Asbury Lanes.
Is there anything else happening at the festival?
Once the festival concludes, there will be an exciting after party, also at Asbury Lanes. Listen to some live music with fellow independent film enthusiasts and discuss your favorite films over drinks! If you donate just ten dollars, you will get admission to this after party absolutely free!
Can I submit my film to TromaDance?
Absolutely! The TromaDance Film Selection Committee will be accepting submissions until MARCH 15, 2012. Visit http://tromadance.com/submit.php, download the submission form, fill it out, and send us your film and any other material you believe we need to see regarding your film.
If you donate $10, you will receive a free Collectible Troma mini poster signed by Lloyd Kaufman, and free admission to the Tromadance after-party.
Donating $25 gets you, in addition to the things above, a free Collectible Best of Tromadance DVD signed by Lloyd Kaufman.
If you donate $50, you get a free signed photo of Lloyd Kaufman, and all the things listed above!
A $100 donation gets you all the things above, plus a free Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV poster signed by Lloyd Kaufman!
If you donate $175, you will receive a collectible copy of "The Toxic Avenger and other Tromatic Tales" graphic novel, signed by Lloyd Kaufman and all of the things listed above!
At $250 dollars, you will be listed in the Tromadance program, and on the Tromadance website as a "Patron". You will also receive a valuable one of a kind original animation cell from The Toxic Crusaders, the 1990's television show set in Tromaville, signed by Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz
A $500 donation will get you a chance to be featured in a public service announcement with Lloyd Kaufman for next years Tromadance film festival, you will be listed in the Tromadance program and on the Tromadance website as a "Sterling Silver Patron", a Tromaville Health Club T-shirt and you get all of the rewards listed above!
Donating an extremely generous sum of $1,000 will not only get you all of the things listed above, but you will also have your name listed in the Tromadance program, and on the Tromadance website as a "Platinum Patron" and lunch with Lloyd Kaufman!
