What are we planning to accomplish with your help?
Inspired by our success, we are preparing a new groundbreaking project. It is an adventure that takes place in a fantasy world of wizards and magic.
The scenario we plan to build will occupy a massive space (approximately 9 rooms, 1000 square feet). The plots, riddles and designs of the room is created by our team and cannot be found elsewhere. The amount of work involved in bringing it all together is mind-bending, so is the cost. This is why we are asking you to support us during our humble beginnings and enjoy the results together at the end!
What is "Escape the Room Experience?"
This form of entertainment appeared not long ago and since it's birth it has been gaining tremendous popularity across the globe. The details differ from one company to another but generally the idea is that an individual or a group of people are locked in a room for a limited amount of time and have to get out by solving riddles. While the idea is simple enough, the creative freedom of designing the rooms, riddles and creating the atmosphere of the place is truly immense. We, Komnata Quest, bring the concept of Quests to an entirely different level.
How Komnata Quest is different from others?
We visited numerous Quests created by other companies and found those experiences rather frustrating. The atmosphere there was created by a few sudden sounds, the riddles were plain and at times barely logical. But most important of all, it all felt not immersive enough, not Real. In other words, we didn't believe it. Thus, we aimed to make our rooms as close to the real life experience as possible and we achieved our goal.
As a result our rooms are not just sets of riddles, they are real-life movies, or lucid dreams in which the player is the protagonist and for the time being the line between what is imaginary and what is real becomes as blurry as it can possibly get. Additionally, our rooms are not single rooms. Most of our experiences consist of series of rooms through which you pass as the story unfolds.
How do we make it?
We have a team of writers who create the scenarios and think through the storyline and every possible move that the protagonist can make so that the experience appears to be seamless.
Our designers create and position all the objects inside the room, from a majestic throne in our Game of Thrones experience to the remnants of a body in our maniacalThe Impossible Murder Mystery scenario.
Our electrical engineers are technical artists that create unique cutting-edge puzzles that have no analogues whatsoever. The environment itself appears to be reacting to the actions of the protagonist.
Finally, our highly praised special effects - visual, audio, even tactile, left hundreds of people speechless, grasping for breath and believing, believing, believing!
How well established are we?
Komnata Quest originated in Russia and we have rooms in 23 Russian cities (about 70 locations in total), 2 in Helsinki (Finland), 2 in Munich (Germany), 5 in Busan (South Korea), 2 are built in Barcelona (Spain), 3 in Turin and 2 in Milan (Italy). Here in New York we have 13 quests, 9 already operating and 3 are being created. So far we are the largest network of quests in the NYC area, we have the largest quantity of reviews on Yelp and Google Plus, as well as the highest average score online by those who experienced our rooms. We have 99% satisfaction rate (there is always that one guy who is not satisfied, you know). We've had Escape the Room enthusiasts come from abroad, people who've tried over a hundred of them in different parts of the globe, tell us that our rooms are something unique and absolutely amazing. That felt good!
Here is the breakdown of where your donations will go to:
- Rent of space. This is New York, and you know what that means when it comes to the rent costs.
- Materials to build the quest itself and all the things it contains. Everything is in the details.
- We will even have a huge skull of a basilisk!
- Development and implication of electronics. A powerful electric net laying beneath the surface will be responsible for all the magic.
- Special Effects. It also takes resources to make these as enveloping as possible.
- If we collect more than our goal, we can put it into an extention of even more quests with this theme.

Risks and challenges
Everything is pretty much planned out with the only thing in question being the rental space for the quest. We have a few options in mind and it shouldn't be a problem.
Worst case scenario, if for some reason we will not be able to launch the quest on time as planned, your tickets will be valid and used for the adventures that are already operating. However, with all the time, effort and resources that we already put into it, plus our experience launching new rooms, this outcome is extremely unlikely.
