PocketLab is a family of wireless sensors, apps, and software for exploring the world and building science experiments. We believe anyone can be a scientist, and we believe science should be fun and engaging. We introduced PocketLab One on Kickstarter in 2015, and we need your help to launch two exciting new devices!
PocketLab Voyager is an all-in-one science lab that is capable enough for a professional engineer and simple enough for a 4th grade student. Voyager can measure motion, light, magnetic field, and weather, and you can attach an external temperature probe.

PocketLab Weather is a rugged weather center that can measure temperature, humidity, light, barometric pressure, heat index, dew point and can connect to an external temperature probe. Weather combines precise measurement equipment in a portable device that you can take anywhere.

Science Fair: You can measure acceleration and calculate impact forces on a helmet. You can synchronize the sensor data with video recorded from your phone or tablet.

Outdoor Exploration: You can go for a hike and collect temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure data using PocketLab Weather. With the PocketLab App, you can map the weather measurements to your geo-location.

Rocket Science: You can launch PocketLab Voyager in a rocket and measure the altitude, thrust, and trajectory of the rocket's flight path. If the rocket travels out of Bluetooth range, the data will be saved to the on-board memory.

Sports Science: Using the IR Rangefinder, you can measure the distance to objects up to 2 meters (6.5 feet) away. You can measure the speed of a person as they move towards the PocketLab Voyager.

Professional Engineering: You can use PocketLab Voyager to monitor the vibration and temperature of equipment. You can record measurements up to 200 Hz in real-time or use Burst Mode for even higher data rates.

Coding: You can connect any PocketLab device to Scratch to do programming activities. You can control LEGO motors and code robots to move.

The short story: PocketLab Voyager and PocketLab Weather are ready for hundreds of applications! We've spent the last year collecting customer feedback and developing amazing new hardware with tons of capabilities.
For all the details, see the specifications below.

The mission of PocketLab is to enable people to discover the joy of science and explore the world around them. PocketLab started in October 2013 when inventor Clifton Roozeboom was developing new wireless sensor technology for his PhD. He was searching for a way to bring advanced sensor technology to science education. Now PocketLab is used by tens of thousands of people in 45 different countries. The PocketLab Team includes a small group of engineers and educators that are trying to change how we interact with science in the world around us.

First, we want to thank you for supporting our campaign and partnering with us! We want to especially thank all those returning Kickstarter backers that have supported us through two campaigns! PocketLab is for all the curious students, educators, hobbyists, techies, and explorers out there and you are helping change the world.
We want to give personalized shout outs to: Eli Rabek, Elizabeth Broers, Wayne Grant, Ron Chandler, John Galvin, the Intel Education Accelerator, Glenn Larsen, Jessica Wade, Daphne Chen, Sijay Liu, Marita Beard, Leigh High School Physics Classes, MS&E273 Team, Paul Mitiguy, Jeff Arrigotti, Julie Blumreiter, all of the amazing PocketLab educators including Rich Born, Willy Kjellstrom, Ryan Hollister, Kristen Dorsey, Debi Pfeitzmaier, Derek Tangredi, Jamie Larsen, Killer Snails, Stan Silverman, Ron Hipschman, and Sir Isaac Newton.

Risks and challenges
No one wants to see a good idea executed poorly, especially us. We have worked extremely hard to ready this product for Kickstarter. We have lined up full-scale manufacturing and fulfillment, but here are what we see as the risks:
MANUFACTURING: Creating the tooling to manufacture a small electronics product and ensure durability is expensive and requires expert knowledge to get it right. To minimize risk we're working with manufacturing partners in the U.S. with a track record for quality.
FULFILLMENT: Sometimes things go awry that can’t be planned for: a supplier misses a deadline, a machine breaks down, or a shipment gets lost. Those things could cause delays. To minimize the possibility of manufacturing setbacks we will enter the manufacturing stage with at least one back-up supplier for each component pre-located and our product commercialization experts will help ensure smooth sailing from our suppliers and factories.
Any pledge amount brings us one step closer to our goal. Start exploring with us by clicking the ‘Back This Project’ button at the top of the page, or by helping us spread the word by sharing our page.
We can't wait to start changing the world. We will build each PocketLab in your honor, and say THANK YOU for your help!
