Play Fun Games. Eat Tasty Sandwiches. Socialize in a Comfortable and Friendly Place.
Would you like to save the world? Take over the world? Save the princess? Or would you just like to win the game of life? This is just the place. We are a comfortable place to hang out with your friends, to entertain your imagination, and to get a good, tasty, convenient meal at the same time.
Come into our shop and we can set you up on one of our game stations, where you will find Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, and Microsoft X-Box 360 together with a big screen HDTV (at least 32 inches) with a good sound system. Or, you can take a seat in our café at a comfortably-sized table to play something more traditionally interactive like board games, or less traditional like your favorite MMO, using our Wi-Fi. We will have a large, friendly, game library (Don’t Panic,) including old favorites (Mario Kart!, chess,) greatest hits, and the latest and greatest new releases. Come play with all of your friends! We will have room for larger groups in our theatre-style game space, with an HD projector and surround sound to make the game, and your experience, larger than life and just that much more immersive and exciting.
You will probably get hungry, or if you come in hungry, then you can try one of our tasty sandwiches. They are the original gaming food, after all. Just ask the Earl of Sandwich! Our sandwiches will be stuffed with over a quarter pound of the freshest, highest quality, best possible meats, cheeses, and vegetables, topped with the most flavorful mayonnaise, mustard, and condiments. We plan to use locally baked artisan breads, and put them together with your choice of chips and drink. For the vegetarians and health conscious, we’ll even have a selection of delicious vegetarian sandwiches as well.
Imagine it now… All the games you can play in a comfortable place, however you like to play (please don’t take off your pants in our shop), and sandwiches, soda, and snacks and candy! Within arm’s reach!
More About Us- The Origin Story
My name is Pete. In my many travels throughout the years, I have visited many restaurants, pubs, clubs, and gathering places. Some of the places I have come to love the most are the ones where people go to talk, and catch up with friends and neighbors, to unwind from a long day or week, and to recharge. These places are great because people treat them like so many of us treat our living rooms and kitchens- as a relaxing place for conversation and hanging out with friends.
A few years ago, I realized that like so many other people who are still kids at heart, I had a love of playing games. I had grown up playing board games with friends and family. When I was around 12 years old or so, we got a NES, Nintendo Entertainment System, and I got hooked on video games. Oddly enough, as I got older the love of games never went away. It was one of those childhood things that just never stopped despite growing up and getting older. I know there are many people out there who also still love to play games, despite having to eventually become adults in the rest of our lives! When my wife Megan and I get together with friends, more often than not we still end up playing video games, board games, and card games.
Sarah and her husband, Chris, are some of those friends we play games with. One gaming session, while we were taking a food break, we joked that it would be a cool idea to have a shop where you could come to play games and eat sandwiches. Essentially, it would be like a specialized pub for gamers. The idea festered in our brains and grew. Eventually the fates intervened, the dice were thrown, the matrix updated, and we unlocked the opportunity to play the bonus level...
The Hungry Gamer was born!
People have asked us, “Why is our goal just $11,000? Isn’t it more expensive to open a brick and mortar shop?”
Yes, it is. We already have some money to open the shop, and have had some preliminary discussions with a lender in order to get a loan for the rest of the startup cost. However, the lender would like to see us come up with a specific percentage of the total startup cost on our own, before they lend us the rest. When we do the math, we are $11,000 short of the bare minimum amount the lender would like to see us have before they make the loan. $11,000 is the bare minimum we need in order to be able to go back to the lender to finalize the loan for the rest of the startup funds.
What would we do if we get more than our goal of $11,000? Those funds would allow us to equip additional game stations, and allow us to make the gaming experience better!
