Launch Party, Day 2

The festivities are almost finished and we have some more photos for you! The party surpassed our wildest dreams. It was a pleasure meeting all the wonderful Ogre fans who visited, some from a long ways away. More about the party later!

We look forward to starting shipping this coming week! That's for the "we like nothing better than moving large numbers of heavy objects" values of "look forward."

Austin-area supporters who did not come to the party: We're trying to ship things so they hit more or less everywhere at the same time. Good luck to us on that, but at least we are trying. That means the local copies ship last. However, if you want your STUFF urgently enough to come pick it up, you can. Send a note to kickstart@sjgames.com. We can arrange for you to pick it up at Wonko's. However, you've only got till the end of October to notify us, because not long after that we expect to ship the last copies!

Instead of tables, today we built forts out of the empty OGRE cartons.

Kevin McCarthy says-> " and I'm totally out of room in the box."
      Ditto!!

This seems like a No-Brainer, but:
Is it possible to Purchase add'l Ogre Garage Trays??
      Can we _make_ it Possible...?
I could use at least Two more for Mercenary & Nippon & stuff like that....

(and that's -before- adding Ranger Suits from the upcoming Assault Packs!)

Myself and the boy spent about 3 hours Sunday punching out and carefully organizing stuff (he got to do the dragon) and we only got about halfway through.

I kind of goofed and did all the sponsor sheets first (and not the SJG sheets)... so I've got 5 Vulcans and almost no fencers or -III variants assembled.... and I'm totally out of room in the box. I finally just had to say "screw it" and dumped half the infantry in a box for some IIIs.

The second one went for $250 - in a room with fewer than 30 potential bidders.

Alan - You SHOULD get a tracking number. See the update that I am about to write.

Thank you Steve Jackson and the whole team for the game, the party, and the swag.

I know even the free Ogre War Room app is not trivial in man hours to develop.

And I especially appreciate the free Ogre Miniature Rules (and Ogre Book, but I already had a copy) to be able to discover more of the history and setting.

"How much did the second OGRE donated copy go for? Saturday's copy went for $300 and was donated to Wonko's as a store play copy."

Wow, that's very cool, and an interestingly significant amount -- my recollection is that the original promotional material said, essentially, "If we applied our normal mark-up we would charge $300 for a game that costs this much to print." So the fact that the first auctioned copy would sell for $300 nicely proves that point and brings everything full circle.

      Great question:

"We're trying to ship things so they hit more or less everywhere at the same time. . . you've only got till the end of October to notify us, because not long after that we expect to ship the last copies!"
Should we read this as "Wherever you live in contiguous U.S. , you can expect your copy about Monday Nov. 4." ?

Took me around 4 hours total to punch out, assemble, sort, and repack my box. And that was with two helpers who decided to punch every non-Ogre piece into one big pile of tokens and then move off to the next table (which might have increased the sorting time, come to think of it...)

Make sure to capture the moment when he is told to expect this daily for the next couple weeks.

Will you have video of the [UPS|Fedex|LaserShip|USPS] guy crying when he shows up to pick up the first shipment?

As a teenager i had horrible jealousy issues, which i finally got over when i was 20 or so, and haven't had a notable relapse since then (let's call it 20 years). Seeing these updates for the launch party, however, have caused a bit of a regression. ;)

    15. Carl Taylor on

In his video update for the launch party, Daniel said punch out and assembly was taking 4-5 hours.

      Wow, two hours?! O_O

    17. mike on

Robert, I saw people begin assembly at the launch and two hours later walked by and they were still at it with smiles on their faces. There is a lot.

    18. Robert Bruce Garlinghouse on

I have a friend who has promised to come over and assist in punch out and assembly, can anyone remember the update wherein the time to unpack and assemble is mentioned? I want to warn him about what he has gotten himself into! :-D

Had a great time Saturday unfortunately couldn't make Sunday due to work. Looking forward to spending hours punching out the pieces. The game looks amazing and I can't wait to play! Thanks also to Eric from Wonko's!
