Neshima - A reluctant warrior undertakes an epic journey to fulfill an ancient prophecy and lead her people home.
Reason for Kickstarter Fund Raising
Thanks for watching our teaser trailer! We finished filming at the end of December '11. We want to turn the 25 hours of footage into the film we believe it can be. Once we have the movie done we can send it to film festivals and film markets to be sold into distribution so we can impact the most amount of people possible. But to do so, we need your help.
We need a total of $30,000 to be pledged by February 14th by our supporters (You) in order to help fund the completion of the film. Kickstarter (in partnership with Amazon.com) holds all pledges in an escrow account until that date. If we meet or exceed our goal amount they will release the funds to us. If we do not, all pledges are returned to their original owners.
We were really lucky to come across such a multi-talented cast and crew, familiar with all regions of the production process. Though we can do a lot of the post-production work in-house, we still need money for things we need experienced professionals to do. Some of those things are:
Sound Design, musical score, color correction and VFX
We really appreciate any support. Even a 10 dollar contribution helps get us that much closer to seeing our project succeed.
So please, become part of our family and share our passion by contributing any amount to our cause so that we can ensure the success of the film.
We started this project in Jan of 2010. What started as a simple idea has bloomed into an amazing story over the next year. Inspired by the Director's brother's passing, this story is meant to captivate its audience, teach people to let the small things go and challenge what they believe they are capable of achieving, not just through the film but through the story of how the film came to be.
The Director, Tommy Friedman, said once, "... when my brother passed, I learned a few things... the thing about time is that a lot of people believe they have to wait till tomorrow before they get things done or even to get started... you might not have tomorrow.. you have to start today... Today is all we know we have." Having said that, he started after his passion of film making and created Neshima.
The project seemed to have a magnetic pull to those who were just as passionate and shared similar ideals. We formed an independent group that was less like a group and more like a family. All are dedicated to see the film to the end and make it as successful as we know it can be.
The film has really come together because of everyone's love of the art and the film itself. Almost all of the cast and crew, a group of over 80 people, have been on deferred pay since Day One, only driven by their passion and confidence in the film's ability to succeed. For those who don't know, "Deferred Payment" means nobody is paid until the film is released and starts making a profit... The ultimate investment of their own time and money to get the film as far as it has gone, sharing the same idea that if you want something, don't just reach for it... Jump.
The actors trained for months before the filming even began. They learned how to hold swords, spears, hammers and axes and how to fight, fall and defend with them. Fight Director, Sifu Barnes, carefully choreographed each fight scene to ensure actors' safety. He drew upon influences from Wing Chun, Southern Shaolin Kung Fu forms and made a new arrangement of the traditional Eagle's form to create a new look to the movements not seen in any other film.
We filmed Neshima over 3 months on a Red Epic. Only a few films have been filmed on such a technologically advanced camera including The Hobbit, Spiderman 4, Our Idiot Brother and Gamer.
The purpose of Neshima is to inspire, uplift and challenge people's world views through an accessible, entertaining and thrilling film. The duration will be roughly 90 Minutes. It's filled with romance, action, fantasy, drama and Martial Arts - everything a successful film should have.
