Best Candy on the Block: a Sweet Halloween Candy Card Game
$2,000
67

It's Halloween! You and your friends have just finished trick-or-treating. Now it's time to find out who has the Best Candy on the Block! Each round you must throw one of your treats into the pile. The player with the best treat of the round takes all the treats and starts a new round or trick as some call it. After 13 tricks, each player gains a point for every trick they won, and a bonus point for each treat that matches their favorite treat suit, but be careful, win too many tricks and you'll get a belly ache which means no bonus points for you!

Best Candy on the Block is a trick-taking card game themed around Halloween and trick-or-treating. The game utilizes a unique deck of candy and treat themed cards with 10 different treat suits, featuring cards with one, two, or three suits. However, mixed in with the treat cards are prank cards which are worth negative points to the winner of the trick and non-treat cards which aren't worth any points, but can be used to stall while you try to keep the best treats for yourself. Also there's the ultimate treat, the wild King Size Bar which always matches the current trick's suit and is the only rank 13 card in the game!

Best Candy on the Block is for 2-5 players for the standard game and a solo mode for 1 player games. Alternative games can also be played with the deck. The King-Sized Expansion includes rules for 8 exciting new gameplay variants, so you'll never get too full of any one flavor!

It takes 31 points to win a full game. Playing a full game will usually take about 3-5 hands before someone will gain enough points to win. So even if you get a bad hand, you can still make up the points during the next one.

The deck contains 57 charming pieces of artwork on its cards, including 48 unique Candy and Treat Cards, 4 Non-Treat Cards, 4 Prank Cards, and 1 ultimate King Size Card which is always the current trick's suit.

In the King-Sized Expansion you will receive cards that can be used for a variety of new games involving the standard Best Candy on the Block deck, as well as some resources to play up to a 6 player game of the standard Best Candy on the Block card game.
The King-Sized Expansion includes:
- Bag Cards which can be used to play an entirely different game.
- Combination Suit cards, perfect for team games, or for extra high scoring games.
- All new Suit Cards to add to the Suit Deck. There won't be new suits in the expansion so how can there be new Suit Cards? We'll find out.
- A Trick or Treater deck for an alternate way to play Best Candy on the Block. In this version instead of showing off your own candy, you are trying to give out the best candy. Each round the current trick or treater will choose the player that gave them the best candy and that player will score bonus points that way instead of matching their own favorite candy suit.
- Rule cards for variant games that can be played with the standard Best Candy on the Block deck and King Sized Expansion deck.

Special Thanks to my awesome artist Racknar Teyssier and my equally awesome graphic designer and friend Dan Coleman. Dan Coleman has made many successful D&D Kickstarter projects and Dan and I have collaborated on our very own tabletop RPG called MajiMonsters.

Risks and challenges
Typical risks and challenges for a kickstarter project will always exist, such as potential for late art delivery, or needing to edit rules for game balance. I have done most of the legwork before this project to make sure it will be as smooth as possible once funded. The majority of the artwork is done and I have worked closely with my artist and graphic designer to make sure there will be no problems when we go to print.
The main risk of this project would be if we didn't get enough money to print enough copies for everyone who backed, but since we have our funding goal, we will only fund if we have enough money to print all the decks needed to fulfill backers.
I have worked on two successful crowdfunded projects in the past and have learned to do most of the work before starting the project. This time I have done just that and most of the work is already finished.
