The way we see it: Music is a derivative of the community that provides it. It matters not whether the members of the community provide the notes, lyrics, ability, money, stories, resources, inspiration or context...it takes a village to create an album. Music, that matters, never occurs in a vacuum. So that is why we, an independent band of Christians, need your support.
This is your chance to be a part of the community known as My Dear Demas. With your support we will be able to finish our studio album entitled "As Sparrows Fall." Your backing will help us complete the recording process, mix, master and duplicate the CD. We've come so far in this project...we just need some help crossing the finish line. We view your support as valid and meaningful as the band members who contribute music to the album. Consider how you could help us today make this album a reality. We are stepping out on faith asking God to connect us with like minded people, like yourself, who are willing to bring a vision into reality.
Thank you in advance...God bless, MDD
MDD is more than just music. We seek out all the tools at our disposal to communicate the story of God. The videos below will give you a peek inside the mind and heart of MDD. These videos are part of the Logos Series and our Discipleship Series. The unrelated projects are posted simply for the purpose helping you understand us more. Enjoy.
My Dear Demas is a platform for Christian influence.
We are a non-profit, multimedia ministry with a passion for engaging people with the story of the living God. We are not a business. We operate on the gifts and support of some very generous and loving people. In its infancy My Dear Demas was just a pen name used for writing and recording music. After branching out from music to video and writing, the creators decided to use My Dear Demas as an umbrella name for a multimedia venture. No longer limited to music, My Dear Demas is seeking to use all the gifts at our disposal to champion the name of Jesus Christ.
Demas was a first century Christian convert and close associate of the Apostle Paul. His name is mentioned three times in the New Testament (Colossians, 2 Timothy and Philemon). We do not know very much about Demas' life or person, but we do know about a major decision he once made. In the second epistle to Timothy, Paul wrote:"Do your best to come to me quickly, for Demas, because he loved this world, has deserted me and has gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia. Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, because he is helpful to me in my ministry" (2 Tim 4:9-11)This is a moment in Paul's life where his closest friends are abandoning, not only him, but their faith calling as well. We are not sure why Demas deserted Paul except for the fact that he "loved the world".As a person who is committed to a life-long journey of sharing the love of Christ I stand in no place to judge Demas. On the contrary, my heart breaks for everyone who falls out of love with God and His ministry. I do understand the temptation of leaving the grind of ministry for the lure of the world. I too have a willing heart and weak flesh. Therefore, I have used the pseudonym “My Dear Demas” to reflect upon my ministry calling and my commitment to it. I have to remind myself to keep my eyes on the prize. I often wonder about epistles and writings that have not survived the hands of time. Perhaps if we had a letter written to Demas to study (much like Timothy, Titus, Philemon, etc) we could understand more about Demas and his struggles. Perhaps Paul wrote Demas a letter calling him back. Perhaps he let him go. We just don’t know. With that being said, please know that all the creative works written under the name My Dear Demas are a beckoning to stay focused on the One who calls us. I am convinced this is the only way to live out our Christian journey. Be reminded of and encouraged by the One who calls us out of the world for the sake of transformation.
Our mission is to use various forms of media to engage people with with the story of God.
