****UPDATE**** STRETCH GOAL!!
WHAT THE H-E-DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS IS HAPPENING!!??
Guys! We reached goal in 21 hours! I think that must be some kind of record! It is in my life at least. I am floored by your generosity and interest in wanting to hear me belt out tunes for you to sing along to in the car. Our own little car-aoke session! A duet if you will :)
Ok so Jason and I were chatting and we had a pretty great idea. We thought If we stretched our original goal of $20,000 to $32,000 and achieved it, we would throw a couple big-a$$ CD release parties! Listen- NO ONE throws a party like Buckmaster throws a party. Just ask anyone who attends one of my SNAP's (Saturday Night After Party. They're a cast tradition). And for this goal, we'll actually throw 2 release parties: one in LA and one in NYC! It'll be a big jam session with all my buds and THE VERY FIRST BRIANA BUCKMASTER SHOW!
SO MANY EXCLAMATION MARKS!!! (sorry. Just a tad excited)
As a contributor to this campaign you will receive first dibs to CD release party tickets which is sure to be full of shananigans, swear words, and maybe a whiskey or two ;)
Well. Look at us. Look how far we've all come together. Did you ever believe we'd be here? I did. And I didn't. It seems every day provides me another opportunity to thank my lucky stars. And it's because of you. Yes YOU.
I am one lucky lucky gal. Over the past year or so, I've had the glorious opportunity to sing with the likes of Louden Swain at the Saturday Night Specials, as well as singing at the Rockwood Music Festival where I met many incredibly talented musicians who both inspired and enlightened me. They proved to me that my love of singing on stage is alive and well, and if I can belt it out there, I can belt it out anywhere. Like in the studio. Pretending I'm Bonnie Tyler or Lady Gaga... :)
With this project I'm hoping to record a mix of covers and originals influenced by some of my favourite rock and blues singers (maybe some musical theatre for fun...?) This is a journey so the end result is a glorious mystery. But probably not gonna try to cut a punk or polka album any time soon. i'll leave that to the professionals.
Meeting Jason Manns was the best accident that ever happened to me. Not just because he's become one of my favourite people in the world but also because he has encouraged me to embrace my voice, my sound, and my dreams by doing this album. Our plan is to record in Vancouver and LA, and over the coming months we'll have something for you to rock out to in the car, sing along to in the shower, and cry to when you're feeling righteously peeved.
I hope that you will love what we come up with and that it will encourage you too to keep dreaming those big little dreams.
Risks and challenges
Since it's my first album, I don't know what I don't know. BUT, I know the folks I'll be working with know what I don't know. They've made quite a few albums by now so I'm sure they have me (and all of you) covered!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
